I'm often amazed at how many people in San Francisco listen to KQED public radio and have not heard of the other less well funded public radio station in San Francisco, KALW.
Tune your dial to 91.7FM. Don't give up on KQED - that's a great station too - but with two choices you'll always have something good to listen to, right?
You'll get plenty of news and commnetary on current events, with access to shows from BBC, CBC and of course NPR. The overall tone seems a little bit more to the political left, which means that if you agree with everything you hear on KALW you're probably even more out of step with the rest of the country than you might have thought you were. :-)
