I really like the Boulder Theater. It's not a movie-plex, it's a good old-fashioned onepscreen theater. It's 2-stories high and has a full bar for refreshments. While movies are shown here, it's also a popular spot for visiting musicians and local bands. If you're into skiing and you've never gone, check out the Warren Miller movies that open here every November. Great fun!!

Now that I have 2 kids to load into the car, I really look for convenience. I was already banking at another local bank, but was annoyed that there were no drive-thrus and very limited hours. TCF opened just down the street from my home and I saw that they have weekend hours (including Sundays) and a drive-thru! With an ATM! I normally wouldn't open a new account at a bank I'm unfamiliar with just for convenience... but I did! And I'm glad I did it, too, because I've taken advantage of those conveniences quite a few times already.

My 2 year old and I go to RMCMA for Music Together classes. These are group sessions with one instructor and usually up to 10 or so toddlers and their parent. It's a really fun class that goes a little deeper than most music classes for young kids. I'm not familiar with any of the other offerings at RMCMA, but perhaps as my child gets older we'll enroll in some of the private lessons that are available there.

If you need a new door, some redwood decking, tiles for your bath, a doorknob... you name it, they just may have it. The "merchandise" is donated (tax write-off) by builders, demolishers and regular home owners. Whether or not you find what you're looking for depends very much on luck and timing. And some good scrounging skills. But definitely check it out. Before heading to your favorite big box hardware store, see if you can give a "piece with experience" some more good years of use. It's better for the planet!

They offer free Internet access, too, which is nice. They don't always have every book I go in looking for, but they usually do.
This library also has a very extensive kids section and offers storytimes.

This is a fairly new store and it's very close to my home so I do the majority of my shopping there. I used to shop at the King Soopers in Louisville on South Boulder Rd at 95th St. I've got to say, I like the other one better. It has a much better feel to it - a better layout. I've never quite felt comfortable in this new store. Bad feng shui? I'm not sure. I guess I don't like how the foods seem split to both sides of the store and then paper products and toiletries are placed as though they're an afterthought. It's very hard to describe the problem, but one exists and others agree. I think the mangers need to rethink the layout. Still, I shop here because it's close to home, the prices are good and the double coupons GREAT!!!

It makes it actually seem like a health benefit to drink soda. The only drawback is that it's expensive. Like 4 times the cost of Coke in the stores.

Good selection of breads, jams, coffee, and some other assorted goodies. My very favorite bread of theirs is the Cinnamon Pecan Swirl - made only once a week. They also make KILLER brownies - but you have to show up right when they come out of the oven or they're GONE! I like their lunch sandwiches, too, but find that it's a bit too much bread (thick slices). Check them out. And have a free slice!

This bank needs to open up more branches with drive-thrus. I've had an account with them for years and I always have to go into the grocery store to do my banking. That's not convenient now that I have two young children in carseats. If I need an ATM or to make a quick deposit, I need to be able to stay in the car. I know of only ONE branch with a full drive-thru in this area and it's the Boulder one. They also have pretty limited hours, but not as bad as they could be. I've always had fast, courteous service at 1st Bank, but they could work on adding convenience for customers.

If you want to support a local business, buy toys at Crawdaddys. The owners are extremely friendly and always willing to hear recommendations. There aren't many toy stores in the immediate area, so this is a nice option. If you're tired of the standard toy selection at Wal-Mart, Target and similar big box stores, Crawdaddys is a fresh change of pace. They also hold several special events a year (Easter egg hunt, pictures with Santa, etc.) which are lots of fun for kids.
