We had the luck to find Mike at Budget Moving the first time we moved within Seattle. Since then we have moved three times with him and have had a great experience each time. He's not into a lot of details so don't expect a long phone conversation when you set up your moving appointment. But he'll be there on time, work efficiently and get the job done well. He's also really calm, which is a nice attribute on moving day. He charges hourly and we were pleasantly surprised at how affordable it was to move.

Scott Mayer is an enthusiastic, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, prompt, not-too-expensive, reliable, tree pruner and arborist. He has an impressive resume (so he knows about trees-he doesn't just hack away), he has impressive tools, and he does impressive work on your trees.
Here's how he works:
Give him a call and he'll come out to meet you and your trees for $50 fee (which goes toward your payment if you proceed with the job).
Schedule a tree pruning and he shows up and does an excellent job--doing what you want in a way that is healthy for your trees.
Scott came (with his cute dog) and pruned three trees on our urban Seattle lot. An apple tree that now looks much happier, a weeping laceleaf maple that now looks much more beautiful, and a funny odd plum that just needed a little guidance to stay off the neighbors' house. He cleaned up all the debris and took it away.
We are completely satisfied and I recommend him without hesitation.

If you are looking for good sushi, keep looking. Blue C University Village is all about atmosphere, (which is pretty cool) and it seems pretty kid friendly. But I don't understand why anyone who really wants to eat sushi would bother going here to eat. The fish is a little off, the tempura tastes (and aftertastes) like grease, even the edamame is overcooked. The food looks nice, watching it move past your seat on the hip conveyor belt is fun, but it's ultimately frustrating because although it looks like sushi and it makes you hungry for sushi...it's just not sushi. It's goo pretending to be sushi.

In these internet happy times who needs a travel agent? Well if you are going somewhere that you know nothing about and have no idea how/what/when to see it, this is the solution. We had an excellent trip to Australia planned out by Elizabeth herself. She had great suggestions, recommendations, and advice for the whole trip. She's also a total cutie--fashionable and savvy!

Never ever call these guys. I would write a description of what happened but I'm concerned about a libel suit since it would be hard to prove how bad it really was. Let's just say the experience with them came directly out of a horror movie. If it was possible on the rating scale I would give them 0 stars.

Located in a mini-mall type of development along Eastlake Ave, Hiroshi's lacks a little in the decor department inside and out. But don't despair, the sushi and the other menu items are really great. I recommend concentrating on their maki sushi (rolls). And the portions are enormous, try the chirashisushi lunch! Service is the real deal japanese style too--you won't sit around waiting for water or tea.

If you drive a foreign car and need any type of service, I would head to Carl's. They are really pleasant to interact with, they don't load on extra work you don't need, and they make your car happy (all this for not a ton of cash).
They also have a cool dog and, believe it or not, they have good magazines in the shop if you have to wait.

I have been going to Dr. Rowland for over ten years now and I've referred everyone I know to her. She is a very pleasant person and a good dentist to boot. Her office is right on the Ave, but it has parking. It's a small practice so if you have any dental issues you always get to talk to Dr. Rowland directly. Very nicely run office too.

If you are looking for a VERY responsive, on the ball, helpful, friendly, and hardworking Mortgage Consultant, then Jeff Brown at Homestead Mortgage is the guy you need. We just closed a house sale and Jeff worked really hard to meet our schedule and get us a great mortgage rate. Several times Jeff had approval letters available at the drop of a hat (essential in Seattle's psycho housing market). Jeff drove all over town to meet us wherever was convenient for us. And perhaps best of all, Jeff could explain all the mortgage options and terms in a clear way.
