Mario's is a restaurant I discovered recently, although been in the area for more than 3 years. It came as a recommendation from friends, going to celebrate a birthday. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, this restaurant offers some of the best tasting dishes in the area. Especially the seafood dishes are unsurpassed, either in combinations with pasta or in bare presentation. Excellent also is the service, which is always courteous and dedicated.
The dinner prices may be a little pricey for the nearby Stony Brook student budget, but lunch is very reasonable, without actually following much in selection from the dinner menu. There is also an early dinner menu, with intermediate prices. But in my opinion, even the dinner prices are worth it, for the taste will satisfy and surpass the expectations of the casual dinner in the area.
Only one complaint, the wait on specific days can be long, especially for big parties (one time 10 people waited one hour, and not during the weekend).

Dr. Hartman was chosen as our pediatrist because of proximity to our house and not of any recommendation. Nevertheless, I must say we are pretty lucky, since he happened to be a very friendly and accessible doctor, always happy to explain anything and answer our questions. In addition, the environment of his practice is equally friendly, creating a comfortable feeling to its visitors. The secretaries are very helpful in explaining all the coverages and what our contributions will be and there was never a misunderstanding in our dealings.
In conclusion, I would recommend Dr. Hartman, which seems very experienced and has always helped us a lot, with all our child's health problems and vaccinations.

Sushi Ichi is a good choice for Japanese cuisine, that is not missing anything from what the US customer is used to expect from a Japanese restaurant menu. A nice selection of sashimi, sushi and maki varieties, plus the other Japanese dishes and combination expected.
The prices vary a lot, depending on what is ordered, but do not become dangerous to control, so the budget oriented as well as the gourmet budget free customer will be satisfied. The couple of dishes I have tried tasted good, without being particularly excited.
I would recommend this restaurant for something different next to the campus, particularly if a car is not available for exploration of other Japanese restaurants the area offers. Nobody will leave this restaurant disappointed.

Everything in this shop was brought directly from Greece. All favorites are there, including several choices of feta cheese, yogurt, pitas, virgin olive oil and everything needed for any possible Greek recipe. Plus many desserts and candies that Greeks may miss when staying in US for a long time.
It is true that the prices of the products are inflated in comparison to Greece, but having in mind that the Greek prices also increased greatly in the last few years and that Greece is 6,000 miles away, they are very logical.
So, for people that miss Greek food and candies, as well as the health conscious that would appreciate Mediterranean ingredients and flavor in their food, this shop is the closest thing in the area that can offer all that.

For anybody searching for a wide selection of groceries, mostly in the 'fresh' category, which would include vegetables, fruits, meats, etc., Meat Farm is the best solution in the area. With unbeatable every day prices and quality that in the average does not dissapoint, this grocery store is the ultimate choice for people on a budget, plus anyone that wants a big selection in fruits and vegetables.
Meat farm is the place of choice for most Stony Brook students, which, although approximately 6 miles away from the store, come occasionally to find an abundance of the most neccessary ingredients for most homemade dishes, especially Chinese and general East Asian.
Although a selection in other canned, packaged and frozen foods is not equivalent to the other big chain grocery stores, Meat Farm is definately the best store to shop for the everyday fresh fruits, vegetables and meats and has the best prices in the area.

Costa De Espana is one of the restaurants the location of which is difficult to describe, but once found it is remembered for some time. The food is really good, tasty, in good portions and cooked in traditional Spanish ways, with sauces that only Mediterranean ingredients can create. My favorites are mostly seafood dishes, although the paella is equally satisfying. And the prices can range from inexpensive to moderate expensive, which can easily fit in most budgets. In conclusion, a great dining place, which offers tasting experiences not easily found elsewhere.

Being next to the Stony Brook university, this restaurant attracts a great deal of students, professors and stuff trying to find alternatives to campus food. With a reasonably priced lunch buffet, it manages to attract a good deal of people, although I have not found the buffet to contain the most tasty dishes this restaurant has to offer. Instead, I go directly to the menu, which, although much more expensive now for most dishes, contains delicacies that would satisfy even picky native Indians.
So, either if searching for inexpensive lunch or more tasty Indian dishes, Curry club has it all, plus outdoor dining in the summer.

Fresh and delicious do not always have to be expensive. That is what the Green Cactus Fresh Mexican Grill is offering, in a nice selection of Mexican favorite dishes, most of the titles are which are known by paying a visit to a local Taco Bell. What is extra here though is the freshness of the ingredients as well as a very nice salad bar, with many several kinds of sauces, which add extra spice to any dish. All these come with very cheap prices, which is a must for a restaurant targeting the student population.

Cosmos is a good value for the money, conveniently located next to the Stony Brook train station and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. The food is Greek-American specialties that one expects to find in such a restaurant in the US. Although many dishes are far from traditional Greek, there are several that capture the Greek spirit, although all of them leave a good taste impression, and definately are worth the money given. The restaurant atmosphere is casual, as would expected from the proximity to the university. In conclusion, nobody will regret visiting this restaurant and is one of the best values around the university.

Searching for a nice bike under a budget, I found that my choices were actually pretty limited. Most places sell only new bikes, with good ones starting at more than $500, where places like Walmart and Target sell cheap bikes being far from nice. At Bike Discounters I was able to find a very nice older bike, new but produced three years earlier, and got a lifetime adjustment guarantee, which was useful at least once. The owner is pretty helpful and knowledgeable, will give recommendations as well as tips. I would recommend this place both for the value and the after sale service.
