Mario's has been around up by WalMart on Tyrone since the shopping center was built, and I'll tell you why: good food, good service, and low prices.
The pizzas are traditional thin crust with just the right amount of sauce and toppings. They have fantastic spaghetti & meatball dinners that come with 5 meatballs, a generous portion of pasta, salad and garlic bread. Everything is delicious and more than affordable.
If you're a regular, they'll greet you by name. Food is always fresh, hot and delivered with a smile.

Victoria Coen is located on Queen Anne, right down the street from Trader Joe's.
Victoria is a thoughtful and helpful therapist who truly listens, offers input and suggestions, and many times, sends you on your way with practical activities to incorporate into your daily life. Having a conversation with Victoria is the norm -- you're not just being asked questions and doing all the talking.
The only drawback is that, when I was seeing her, her appointments tended to run over, so I was not always on schedule. She did begin allotting 90 minutes for sessions, however, so this problem might be alleviated by now.
Victoria does both individual and couples therapy. Highly recommend.

Panera Bread is relatively new to Redmond. Family back in Florida have always raved about Panera, so we gave them a shot.
The atmosphere is quite nice, and the seating was definitely varied and plentiful. Warm colors and a gas fireplace make a cozy setting.
You order at a counter and pay and are given one of those light-up pager thingies to take to your table. There were two women helping us at the counter. The woman taking the order was about as friendly as a rock, but the girl who was grabbing our drinks & fruit cup seemed nice enough.
We proceeded to a table with our kids, and I realized they'd not given us our daughter's milk. So my husband had to go back up to the counter (and the rock) to ask for it.
We waited about 10 minutes for our food, and it was pleasant enough.
The food was fresh and good. The kids split a PB&J on sourdough with chips, which they seemed to enjoy. I had the Greek Salad with whole grain baguette. It was fresh and delicious, although I did find a small (gasp!) hair on the very edge of my plate, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my own.
Prices were good, the bread was excellent, and I will try them again.

The QFC in Bella Bottega is one of the best grocery stores in Redmond.
They have a great selection of produce (with a decent selection of organics - nothing spectacular). The produce guys are always in there weeding out the old and stocking the new and are helpful when you ask a question.
The books & magazines section is pretty extensive as are the selection of cards.
There is not much I have to go to other stores to find, and if you ask, they will stock an item for you.
The best part of this particular store is the wine gal. I don't know her name, but she is incredibly helpful if you can describe what you want and has offered me many great suggestions. I went in once looking for a particular bottle that they didn't have, but I noticed the next time I went in, they did!
Both the deli and bakery are good. Turnover of checkers is low, and most of them are very efficient and friendly. Feels like a neighborhood grocery store should.

Went to Fatburger tonight for the first time because I was craving a good hamburger.
The food was hot, fresh and tasty, but unfortunately, they totally confused the two burgers that we ordered. My husband wanted a Kingburger (1/2 lb. beef) with everything & fries, and I wanted a Fatburger (1/3 lb. beef) with limited toppings & onion rings. We got a Fatburger with everything with the onion rings and a Kingburger with limited toppings with the fries...
That said, we didn't realize it until I hit mayo about half-way through my burger. (I guess they were fine then, huh?) The onion rings and fries were mediocre at best, but they were hot and fresh. My husband enjoyed his shake, and our kids liked their burgers as well. It definitely satisfied my burger craving.
As far as service, other than the burger screw-up, they were fast and friendly. They have someone "on the floor" to bring you your food and to keep tables clean. The gal tonight was doing an outstanding job.
We'll go back again, and hopefully, get what we ordered!

Pattycake Prints makes absolutely beautiful keepsakes of your child's hands and/or feet imprints. I learned about them while taking the Evergreen Hospital's parent-baby classes, and they came and set up shop there one day.
I had my 12-week-old daughter's done - a double print for me, and single prints to give the grandmothers for Mother's Day. They do the prints on the spot, and you pay. It takes a couple of weeks for them to then fire and glaze the prints. I was thrilled with the end results! So much so that when my second child was born, I went and got his done at 12-weeks as well!
Pattycake Prints takes impressions at local businesses, so you will need to call to find out where they'll be next. These are well worth the money if you're looking for a lasting, beautiful keepsake that represents your kids.

Big Picture is located on the upper level of Redmond Town Center and is a great place to see a film.
Their "lobby" is really designed as a living room, with cozy nooks and couches, tables for cocktails and a nice full bar tucked back at the back. You can arrive a little early, get your drinks (and popcorn and candy!), find a comfy spot and chat before the movie.
The theater itself has some of the most comfortable seating I've experienced at a theater, the lighting is pretty and the ambiance quite romantic. If you've got unfinished drinks, you can also bring them into the theater with you.
I highly recommend Big Picture, especially for a date night or girls night out. Different and fun!

Emmaus Counseling Center is located right in the heart of Redmond and has a variety of therapists to meet the needs of the community.
Upon calling Emmaus, I was set up with a therapist within a week. Having never been to therapy before, I wasn't sure what to expect. Emmaus is in a house, so you're waiting in a living room. It's very quiet and peaceful.
I know several people who have seen different therapists here, and they have all been more than happy with the results of their counseling. A good place to call if you live in Redmond and thing you could benefit from counseling.

I cannot get over how easy it is to get materials from the King County Library System! I love it! I frequent the Redmond Regional Library most often.
The most amazing thing is that you can put books on hold via the Internet and have them sent to your local library for pick-up. This is a *huge* time saver for anyone who might not have a lot of it to kill actually going in and looking for a volume. KCLS will email you when your item is ready for pick-up.
Something else the Redmond Library has done recently is add self-check-out computers. No more standing in line, waiting and waiting. You just whip out your card, scan your items and go. It's awesome.
The only drawback to this particular branch is that the parking is usually PACKED. I am hopeful that when Redmond opens the new city hall and adjoining parking lot, this problem will be alleviated.

Borders in Redmond Town Center is a good place to pick up just about anything literary you may need.
They have, of course, a wide variety of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs, but they also carry a good selection of small gifts (think bookmarks, jewelry, & chocolates), calendars, and maps.
Their children's section at this particular store is quite good, and their weekly, free story times for kids are fun to take your little ones to. (Check the store calendar for times. They do change from time to time.)
The folks who work the information desk at this store are always friendly and quite helpful and have been known to walk customers to whatever they may be looking for.
There are also several places to sit and read, and a coffee bar as well. Overall, a very nice place to spend a couple hours.
