Excellent Offerings, Personal Service

Tuesday, August 16, 2005
Surdyks has a giant selection of wine, beer, and spirits (supposedly, they are the largest liquor store in the Midwest). They have occupied a prominent spot in the former Polish immigrent area of North East Minneapolis since the end of the Prohibition Era. For those who actually attempt to pair wine with their food, they have wine consultants on site to give you recommendations on your purchase. For the brew snob crowd, they have a large selection of imported beers. For those moments when only an esoteric, triple-fermented beer handmade by monks in a Belgian monastery will do, Surdyks is a good bet. Connected to the main store through a separate entrance is a gourmet food and cheese shop. It has a very good offering (maybe even the best in the Twin Cities) of imported cheeses. They also sell pate, saucisson, hand cut meats, and basically anything imported and tasty that will send your cholesterol count soaring higher than Ty Cobb’s batting average.
