Banana Cafe

Friday, January 26, 2007
Tucked on a little street near Eastern Market you'll find a charming little place called the Banana Cafe. In the harshest of winter, upon stepping in, you'll be greeted by splashes of warm and vibrant colors leaving you to think that you were in basking in Havana and not weathering the snow in Washington DC. The restaurant is truly a delight! The waiters are friendly and bring you a bowl of salsa and chips right off the bat. The menu consists of Cuban entrées on one side and Mexican entrées on the other. The guacamole I might add is quite delicious (and I'm from California). I ordered the Cuban pizza because I have never had that it and it was not disappointing. A deep dish styled pizza with shredded ground pork, peppers, plantains, all topped with cheese. It was the perfect blend of sweet and saltiness for my taste palate. I loved Banana Cafe and would recommend it to anyone who just wants a great neighborhood restaurant with a cozy vibe!
