Disney's California Adventure is a place that shouldn't be frequented more than once. It's not very exciting, the ticket prices are through the roof, and the food there is a complete ripoff. This amusement park might appeal more to really young kids and tourists rather than for the nearby residents. I didn't find anything extraordinary or worth seeing but you might enjoy the park more than I did. Be prepared to spend a grip load!

Bowling has been losing its popularity over the years and the drop in bowling facilities is indicative of the turn in trend. However, Irvine Lanes is one of few that still stand and is a great place to take the family. There are 40 lanes, each equipped with automatic scoring system, and an arcade for those not interested in bowling. They also have a very nice snack bar.
If you want to get involved, you can join a league at the Irvine Lanes.

Oak Creek Golf Club is not for everyone. I can't honestly say I've played the full 18 holes but I did hit some balls at the driving range. The balls weren't cheap and from what I've read, the green fees are insane ($85+). You can enjoy their clubhouse and dine with the rich or receive lessons from professionals at the course. The entire course is par 71 and the distance of the course is about 6800 (give or take).
If you're a beginner, I would strongly recommend against playing here.

Birch Hills Golf Course is in the North Orange County in the city of Brea. I played here once and I thought the holes were a bit challenging for me (a beginner). For about $16, you can rent a cart if you're feeling lazy. The green fees is around $19 or $20 and the holes range from beginner to expert.
The entire course is par 59 and course distances ranges from ~3000 to ~3500 yards.

Costume Castle is a little store off the 5 freeway at the El Toro exit. As expected, Halloween is the time when this store is the busiest, and the emptiest. If you plan on buying costumes from here, I would strongly recommend that you go there well before Halloween or you won't find the right costume and size for you. I went the day before Halloween and I found exactly what I was looking for + it was my size. I can't say everyone will get lucky but considering how small this store is, the supply is limited.

Great Clips in Irvine is a terrible place to get your haircut, unless you're tight on the budget. I wouldn't say Great Clips is as worse as having your buddy cut your hair but it's down there with the do-it-yourself flo-bee. The reason why Great Clips gets business is because of their irresistible price and the fact that it is close to UCI. If you have a simple hairstyle that anyone can cut, come here. Otherwise, you're in for a world of trouble.
My advice? Don't skimp out on your haircut, unless you don't mind looking silly for the next 3 weeks.

Irvine Spectrum is located off the exit where the 405 and the 5 freeway meets. There are stores to go shopping, there are restaurants, and there is a huge theater with IMAX viewing. The problem with Irvine Spectrum is parking. With severe renovation that is going on at the moment, parking has become far worse. Expect to park far away and expect to walk far if you're planning on going to the theater.

Like all beaches, Huntington City Beach is off of Pacific Coast Highway. I love this beach because there are firepits that you can use to have a campfire. My friends and I used to go there during the cold nights and roast hotdogs, marshmellows, and just talk. I would recommend going there early to reserve a firepit because this beach is very popular. In terms of parking, it is best to park at the meters instead of paying for the flat-rate parking because you will end up paying much less than you would have otherwise. The beach is clean and should be great for the whole family.

Camelot Golfland is not too shabby. It features the standard miniature golf course, arcade indoors, and a place to purchase food. It is located just down the street from Fry's Electronics and can be seen from the 91 freeway.
To play miniature golf, it is relatively cheap (when I last went). Arcade games are getting more expensive to play but I can't blame them for jacking up the cost to play with the emergence of home video gaming systems.
Anyway, this is a great place to bring the family and to practice your putting before hitting the green next time out.

Whether you're studying for the SAT or the MCAT, Kaplan Test Center has instructors who'll help you study for the test. I took Kaplan for GMAT and I bought the class wasn't very helpful. It might be a better idea to just buy the Kaplan book because they'll just repeat what's in the book and since they're on a time schedule, they're rarely available to help you after class. You're better off saving yourself over thousand dollars.
Buy books from Kaplan, Princeton Review, and other prep books and study on your own.
