My friend bought a Honda Civic in 2001 from Carr's. I must say that with any car dealership, your experience is probably highly dependent on the individual salesmen you interact with. I went with her to this dealership twice; the first time, we had an extremely indifferent (not rude, just indifferent) salesman who just couldn't be bothered, I guess, but the second time we met quite the personable chap who managed to be earnest without being pushy. So needless to say, my friend bought the car.
She's been pretty happy with their service and the price she paid. About the only reason why I would not, in fact, give them a higher rating than just 'good' is that one of their major selling points is that they claim to be #1 in customer satisfaction for Honda dealers in the Chicago region.
But, you see, for EVERY customer there, they give them the following spiel "I'll give you a really good price. But could you do something really easy for me in return? Could you fill out this form, and say that we gave you really good service? That's all we want in return?"
So - just how reliable do you think those #1 customer satisfaction ratings are?

Dynasty Supermarket is one of the biggest Asian supermarkets in Manhattan. Now, granted, there are obviously bigger Asian supermarkets in the outer boroughs, but given how cramped everything is in Manhattan and especially Chinatown, the range and variety of products at Dynasty is pretty good.
As with any Asian supermarket, there's a fresh seafood and meats counter that is generally superior in price and variety to that at 'western' supermarkets. I suppose you might be a bit wary about cleanliness and so on, but the way I look at it, the difference between Asian and "Western" supermarkets is this. The Asian markets are quite happy to let their vaguely unhygenic practices continue in full view of the customers, whereas the "Western" ones can be just as unclean, but put up a pretty good show of pretending to be spic and span. So it's up to you really.
This is a good one-stop shop for Asian, and particularly Chinese, groceries and products. Recommended if you're in Chinatown Manhattan.

A proviso first: I have only experienced this museum for free, because the University of Chicago for some odd reason really likes to rent the entire place for events. That being said, I've visited nearly every exhibit in the place.
The MSI is somewhat of a museum by accident. It was built for the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and I think nobody really expected it to remain intact afterwards. (all the structures built for the world's fair were quite shoddy)
However, the museum is still standing today, so I suppose someone at least did a proper job with it. What's inside? A reasonably eclectic collection of science-museum exhibits. As with any science museum, the emphasis is pretty much on a middle to high school level of education / understanding, so real scientists will no doubt be apalled. However, it is fun - everyone should check out the coal mine exhibit, which involves a 'descent' into a coal mine and a 'mine car ride', as well as the famous U-Boat which is actually a World War II relic!

Well, if you're me, you end up stuck at Loren's Auto Repair Inc. at Kalispell, MT.
I wore the clutch out on my car and had to have it replaced. It's a pretty major job on my model of car, and being stuck in Montana isn't very helpful either. As anyone who might have been there knows, while Montana, the state, is huge, not many people live there, lowering the chances that you'll come across someone who can both do the job and find the necessary spare parts.
To his credit, Loren and his crew were able to get my car repaired in a day - they were able to get the parts and fix it up. However, it did cost me a lot of money. Car repair is expensive, and certainly I have no complaints about the quality of their work, but you know how it is - I'll never be entirely sure whether I paid too much, since I had no choice after all.
However, given that there are very few other professional independent repair shops in town, I would feel comfortable using their services again (just not when I'm obviously desperate, I suppose).

Anyone who's tried to cater an event lately should know that it's an extremely expensive undertaking, with no guarantee of good service or quality. D'Masti offers full-service catering at very reasonable prices. I had them cater a formal dinner for 100 people and was very happy with their service and food quality.
Now, if you want extravagant food, or amazing presentation, I'm not sure they could handle it, but perhaps you could save that money and instead have D'masti handle your event instead.

Eat it? Evidently not, because every year, the people of Mitchell, SD plant several acres of multicolored corn with the specific purpose in mind of using it to create their 'corn palace' - a building that is, reassuringly, made of concrete, but decorated entirely with ears of corn.
Supposedly, the corn palace originated as a way of attracting farmers to the region, but it's long since become a cheesy roadside attraction. For some reason, the Midwest and West is full of these things.
Well worth a visit.

You probably know Jacques Torres from the Food Network - if you're near Soho, you really should check out his shop. Make no mistake, it is indeed a chocolate haven (or should that be heaven?) - the rich smell of chocolate immediately envelops you when you walk in.
The shop sells his truffles, chocolate bars, hot chocolate, pretty much every high end chocolate product you can imagine really. It is expensive, but no more expensive than other high end chocolate stores - that is, truffles are about $46 a pound.
I highly recommend purchasing your high end chocolates (if you must indulge...) at a boutique store like Torres' instead of purchasing Godiva. It's a lot better and fresher, and believe me, you can tell the difference.

The Art Institute is Chicago's world-class Art Museum. It has particular strengths in 19th century art, including a really good Impressionist collection, but it has a large enough collection overall to do justice to just about every era. The Art Institute is free on Tuesdays, and the rest of the time, it's 'suggested donation' based.
I highly recommend starting on the 2nd floor of the main building - a signature item in their 19th century collection is Seurat's La Grande Jatte which you've probably seen somewhere before. Surrounding that is the usual collection of Monets, Manets, Renoirs, et al.
Park underground at Millenium Park or by the meters nearby.

If you've ever driven along some of the interstate highways in the Midwestern to Western states, you've probably realized two things.
1) South Dakota / North Dakota / Iowa / etc is REALLY boring.
2) Why are there so many billboards saying "Wall Drug"?
If you actually get off the highway at the exit for Wall, SD, you'll run into Wall Drug, the store that paid for all those billboards along the previous 300 miles of highway.
It's an actual store / self perpetuating tourist attraction, right up there with the world's biggest ball of string, etc. I must say, if you're passing by, you might as well visit it. After all, what else were you going to do in South Dakota?

A popular place in Belmont to get your hair done - it's within very short distance of the Red Line stop.
Although Milio's is somewhat edgy - for example, their advertising attempts to cater towards the more punkish / more hip crowd, they are perfectly capable of executing standard hairstyles as well. So don't worry, they're not likely to mohawk you without asking.
As a plus, they're quite reasonably priced. I have never talked to anyone who had a tattoo from them however, so you might want to investigate that further.
