Mill Mountain Zoo is very small when you have seen the zoo in Asheboro, NC or Washington DC. However, if you live in the area it is fine entertainment for the kids. I wouldn't drive out of my way to go there. Since it is on a mountain it can be very foggy. They have a tiger, Ruby, which is their most famous attraction. The red panda was very neat and they had several neat leopards. They also have snakes, birds, and some farm animals. There is a train that runs through the zoo for an added fee.

This is a large "playroom" for kids 7 and under. You pay one price and the kids can play all day. There is a moonwalk, dress up area, climbing wall, train, balls to bounce, art area and more. The best thing is the baby/toddler area. If you have a small one there are swings, bouncy seats, and things to help entertain them (and babies are free). You can also brings food to eat in the snack area or they have a few snacks you can purchase. Beware the kids must have socks. If not, you'll have to buy them. They try to keep it very clean, but you are required to watch your own kids. They have laptops with wireless internet available for parents and gameboys for larger kids.

We enjoy this museum from time to time. They have neat science related exhibits for adults and kids. You always learn something. There is one part that rotates so you get to see new things. The plantetarium is a neat experience to see constellations etc. We enjoy the IMAX but we usually go without kids and see the shows for a 'date'. They offer neat, informative shows as well as some special or kids shows. You can always check to see what's playing on their website.

I have checked out CWD several times. Even during their clearance sales, I thought things were expensive. You can get nice clothes for cheaper prices than a boutique, but I prefer to get things on clearance at other stores like Pennys or Hechts. They offer a kid's photo contest once a year that is fun. The winner gets lots of free clothes and get publicity in their ads.

This little coffee shop is right by Ukrops at the corner of Hull St. and Courthouse. The calm atmosphere makes a great escape to sip your coffee or tea indoors or out. They have some sandwiches and snacks too. The family atmosphere is so welcomed. There is a kids table with crayons and games so they don't have to sit still while you catch up with old friends. They also offer internet, some books for sale, and Christian music on weekend nights. It's a great family business to support.

Since they are hooked with Ukrops they offer rewards of free groceries for using your check card, signing up friends, and getting lines of credit. We have a special free account for teachers. It offers free checks and checking. Sometimes we have had to call because we get charged for our checks, but the fees are reversed. There is free overdraft that is free until you use it. Then there is a handling fee, but reasonable. Most tellers are very personable and helpful.

This church has an average Sunday attendance of 1500. It is larger than any church I had been a member of, however, through the Sunday School class we have established relationships that gives it a smaller feel. There are 2 services: one at 9:30 and one at 11:00. The 11 o'clock service is televised and the 9:30 is more contemporary. We enjoy the many children's programs such as AWANAs ( a missions program for kids), a great Fall Festival, and Vacation Bible School. There are also many Bible studies on a variety of topics for adults. The youth group is very large and always has lots of activities. The pastor is very strong Biblically and speaks the Truth.

This minor league baseball team is a great family outing. The area businesses often offer coupons and discounts and the prices aren't bad anyway. The kids love seeing the mascot running around and you can even have a birthday party there. The food is pricey and there are lots of signs saying not to bring outside food with you. (but plenty of people had food with them) We enjoyed the game and it wasn't too crowded.
