Friendly's of Bristol (located in the Walgreens Plaza on Route 6 - Farmington Avenue) is by far one of the best "family" restaurants in town. Whether you are wanting to have a nice meal out with the kids or are just in the mood to stop by for one of their delicious ice cream treats, Friendly's is a favorite for everyone. And if ice cream is all you want, they have a convenient ice cream window located on the parking lot side of the building. The menu at Friendly's is perfect for the whole family, and they are constantly adding new menu items and special combination plates. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean.

Mystic Pizza is by far one of the best pizza establishments there is. The pizza is absolutely incredible, and it is no wonder an entire movie (Julia Roberts) was inspired by it. The restaurant is a fun place to visit with photos and local news clippings adorning the walls from this famous film. It has been remodeled in the last few years and now seats many more people (this place is famous and sometimes there would be quite a long wait, but not anymore). And you can even pick up a cool Mystic Pizza t-shirt just like they wore in the movie. North Stonington has a second Mystic Pizza location which no doubt has the same incredible "secret ingredient" pizza that brings people coming back time and time again.

Forestville Theatres is located in the Stop & Shop Plaza on Pine Street in Bristol. The admission price is only $3.25 and while the movies are not the newest releases you will find at the large chain theaters, they are movies that have come out recently or that are blockbusters that people want to keep seeing. One of the theaters is used by a local merchant and there are always really great old flicks that can be seen, like Rocky Horror Picture Show and other black and white classics (and usually they charge and even lower admission for these special movie nights). There is a small concession stand where you can get drinks, popcorn and candy, and the theater is clean and the owners and staff are friendly. Considering the constantly increasing prices at the big chain theaters, I like going to this local favorite, not only to save $6, but because they show great movies and it is only a mile from the highway.

I was a little discouraged to find the Lindt Truffles, considering the type of establishment it was, but it is a great store and I enjoy shopping there.

Jays Market offers free delivery on a wide variety of items (grinders, fried chicken, appetizers, and much more) and will deliver groceries, etc. from their market for an order of $10 or more. The website lists the daily sales, a full menu, and grocery information. Something I had called up and ordered with my food delivery was not in stock, so they made a substitution, however when they delivered it they made another substitution. It was fine, but they should have called back to let me know. I am not allergic, but the substitution contained peanuts, had I been allergic I would have been none too thrilled with their choice. The chicken I ordered was either fried in old grease or over fried. The staff was personable and the delivery was quick.

If you need a hall for your next event, consider hosting it at the Grand Ballroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino. I have attended two Gala events at this Casino and I have never seen a more prepared staff, or a more beautifully decorated room at any other function I have ever attended. The Grand Ballroom can be partitioned off according to the space you require, cables can be moved to meet your electrical needs, and they can even drape the walls for a more elegant effect. The food is incredible, totally gourmet (from the appetizers to the entrรฉe and dessert... it is always beautifully presented and completely delicious). I can't say enough about having an event at Foxwoods, they do an amazing job. Plus they have three hotels and plenty to do for those who wish to stay over. Foxwoods also has rooms available if you need to host a meeting. Foxwoods has it all.

Hollywood Nails is now located next to TJ Maxx. The staff is very friendly and they do incredible work. I have gone to Hollywood Nails for manicures and waxing and have always had top quality service. They do the most incredible hand painted designs, as well as a variety of air brush techniques. I have had acrylic nails done there twice and they have always been top quality with no problems (sometimes you go places and the glue wasn't put on properly and you get air bubbles, etc.)
