Hebert Candy is a large candy shop with a large assortment of regular and sugar free candy, gifts, and an ice cream parlor where you can make your own sundaes. The staff is friendly and the prices for their delicious creations are quite reasonable. It is a candy lovers dream because they have so many items to choose from (and for the most part this is not stuff you can buy in a store, they make their own candy, it is so good).

Bristol Gastroenterology is one of the best places for your digestive specialty needs. They have state-of-the art tests to determine exactly what your problems are, and they are quick to help you on your way to wellness. One of their newest staff additions, Dr. Zakko, is an absolute gem. Not only does he take the time to understand what brought you to the office, but he is also extremely knowledgeable in his field. He has an incredible bedside manner... very kind, funny and makes sure you leave the office knowing that your needs are being met and that you will be well taken care of. The office is huge with many doctors and a friendly staff.

Dr. Dinowitz is a great dentist. They do everything from cleanings to creating molds for dentures, but they do not pull teeth. The only negative thing about this office is that they have a strict policy for those on Medicaid or state insurance... if you miss two appointments you will not be allowed back. It is a bit harsh, especially when you can't always control your circumstances, but I'm sure they have reasons behind the policy. Otherwise there is nothing but positive things to say about this dentist office.

They have a diverse menu from casual to upscale with a friendly staff and a beautiful establishment with ample parking. J. Timothy's is easy to get to, just blocks from 84, and local to some of Plainville's best shopping and entertainment.

Black Rock State Park is a beautiful campground located on Route 6 in Thomaston. The bathrooms are large with showers, and while they are clean the doors do not seem to close (at least in the ladies room). It didn't hurt the experience at all; at least I am not using leaves and a rock. The sites are spacious and very clean, and the setting is peaceful and breathtaking. You can hike up the mountain or walk to the beach... there is also a field for playing and an office for your ice and firewood needs. Check-in/Out is 1 p.m. and it is $16 for the first night and $13 for each additional night. They are open as of April 15, and daily from Memorial Day-October 2. The staff is friendly and helpful, they even deliver your firewood to your camp for you if you need them to. No electric/water on the individual sites but there is sewer and dumpsters, as well as water and bathrooms located throughout the campground.

The Thomaston Opera House is an amazing and beautiful playhouse located in downtown Thomaston. Whether you want to see Grease, Oklahoma or any number of the plays they put on throughout the year, or if you are in the mood for a movie you can visit them during one of their movie nights (you can even get Goobers and a soda). The staff is great. You can order tickets online or at the venue, but be sure to come early because it fills up fast. It is a beautiful old building with great acoustics, perfect for stage performances.

The facility is contemporary and attractive, the restaurant is currently located outside in a large tent, but it doesn’t take away from the delicious food or the enjoyment of the visit. They have penny slots which is great if you are on a budget but want to play for a while.
