We stayed at the BW MovieLand in January 2007 for a couple of weeks after switching hotels following a bad experience. We liked the hotel enough to book again for our Christmas/New year holiday and booked direct with the hotel getting them to price match a price found on another booking engine. We were even able to negotiate the resort fee down to $2.50 from £6.75 per day. We were in a clean room on the second floor (first floor to Brits) overlooking the pool. The room was cleaned daily, the air con worked well but not needed often as the temps were in the low 70s to begin with. The location is convenient next to the Black Angus steakhouse, over the road from Wet 'n' Wild, 15 minute walk from Universal and a bus trip (Lynx or trolley) to numerous strip malls, full size malls, restuarants and other attractions. Two days before we were due to fly home, my partner took ill and had a massive cardiac arrest. This resulted in extending my stay for SIX weeks more! When I spoke to the sales manager on the day my partner fell ill, he made arrangements to extend my own stay at the same rate for a further two weeks. My mother in law flew over to be with her son. When I spoke to the staff about getting another room for her, they suggested moving me to a double queen on the fourth floor (third floor Brits!) at the front of the hotel overlooking I-Drive. Again, they kept the rate the same as the original price match. Every day I went from the hotel to visit my partner, whichever member of staff was working always stopped to say hi, ask how we were, was there anything they could do, pass our regards on to your partner, etc. more
