The Stone Kitchen Catering company is run by Elizabeth Stone. I have never hired the company but have attended events where the event was catered by Stone Kitchen. I must say that the food was definitely the best part of the event. Elizabeth Stone did do the cooking and did show up at the event. I believe she does weddings and galas. Prices range from $18 to $80 per person or more depending on the menu. In addition, the staff was also great.

Cypresswood golf is a fairly nice course located off of FM 1960 in Spring. I played there for a tournament while I was a student. The prices are not that bad. On the weekend the prices range from $45 to $75 and on weekdays from $36 to $50. There are two courses you can play on. The practice range is nice. It is a par 72 golf course with a USGA course rating of 74.4.

I am not sure how you classify Moody Gardens. There are a lot of things to do there. It certainly makes for a great day trip to Galveston. Moody Gardens has a 3D IMAX theater, there is an aquarium, a rainforest, a ride/film (simulated ride), etc. Each activity has a separate fee, but you can get discounted day passes. It is open every day around 10:00 AM, so you do not have to get up early to head down there as it is only a hour's drive from Houston. My kids loved the acquarium.

The Houston Zoo is a great bargain. I lived in San Diego for a while and the zoo there was extremely expensive. The Houston Zoo is only $7 for adults and $3 for children aged 3 to 12. It is open year round. The zoo is pretty big, I think it is about 55 acres. A good day of walking for sure. The zoo has some educational and conservation resources. The new children's area is great for small children. Most children love the petting zoo. I recommend going in the late fall, winter or early spring. The heat of the summer can be brutal and the animals do not move much.

The Alley Theatre is a perfect place to bring small children. The live theater caters to children. We took our daugther and 3 month old son to Pratt's Poetry Jam. This show was awesome. The execution by Pratt was great and the children really enjoyed it. The theater was very small, which made the show very intimate. This show was also very interactive with Pratt calling on members of the audience and using volunteers. I hope to take our children to other shows soon.

The John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science is a fun place to bring children. There is usually a special exhibit on display. We went when there was an exhibit on football. There were all sorts of activities for kids and adults, including throwing footballs through a hoop, sprinting, maintaining your balance, all things focused on your body. There are sections devoted to various organs in your body, such as the pancreas and the brain. Very interesting if you have any interest in science. The museum is fairly inexpensive and open every day of the week.

If you work in the Frost Bank building on Katy Freeway, then you are probably aware of the High Rise Deli located on the second floor. For lunch, you would be better off walking to Memorial City Mall and eating in the food court. The specials never change from week to week. They are not good except for Wednesdays, when they serve fried rice. The serving size of the fried rice is decent. Sandwiches are bland. Breakfast is overpriced.

T.N. Tailor & Alterations is located next to Bally Fitness and Starbucks on the Katy Freeway. The prices are fairly reasonable and the work is really good. I had some jack sleeves taken in, the side of a suit jacket taken out, the waist of some slacks taken in, as well as some hemming work. The sleeves on a jacket cost about $9 per sleeve or $18 for the jacket. Having the side out on the jacket cost $15. Having pants taken in or let out will cost about $10, as will having pant legs hemmed. If you have any complaints about the work they have done, they will take it back and fix it until you are satisfied.

Six Flags Great Adventure has 13 roller coasters. It has the tallest and fastest roller coaster around, Kingda Ka. While this is a great place to go, it is expensive. Also, on the weekends, it can get very crowded. That could mean long lines. Food is expensive in the park. There is a six acre section for smaller children. For the money, however, I think there are too few rides for small children. There are some good shows and of course, fireworks.
