One of the only disturbing things about moving from San Francisco to Seattle was the lack of decent Mexican food here. La Carta is authentic Oaxacan, delicious and incredibly inexpensive. Not only is the food great and true to its roots, but it's a very cool setting - incredible photographs on the walls of the home town of the family that makes up the restuarant staff. Service is also great. La Carta has quickly become very popular (clearly there was a niche to be filled), so get there early or late, but get there.

Nothing beats a Top Pot doughnut - even if you aren't a doughnut fan. The presentation is fantastic, and the taste is even better - none of that Krispy Creme fluffiness - Top Pot doughnuts are substantial without being too heavy, and the different varieties could keep a doughnut lover happy for weeks. My personal favorite is called the chocolate sandbox (I think) - chocolate cake doughnut with cinammon sugar on top. Yum. I don't go often, but when I do I'm glad I did - if you can't resist, you'll be fat but happy...

I love that "late" in Seattle is 10 pm - isn't that sad? But yes, Chiso is open till 10, and the sushi is exceptional. Not cheap, but worth every penny, and the staff is just awesome.
