For a good, healthy lunch in the north part of the loop, you can't beat Delicatezza. They make many different kinds of wraps, sandwiches, and salads, and serve them along with great sides like pudding, pasta salad, and fruit cocktail. The service is fast and friendly. Try the Delicatezza salad--it's delicious. Far better and friendlier than the salad chains nearby.

Does it get any better than this? Noah's Ark isn't the newest waterpark in the region (Six Flags Great America can claim that honor), it probably isn't the largest, and it isn't the flashiest. But it has something for the whole family, from lazy rivers to enormous wave pools, rides the whole family can go on in one raft, and classic slides like the Plunge. It is also very family friendly by providing spaces to picnic with your own food, and plenty of free lounge chairs. All in all, a great family outing.

Dr. Koehler is one of those rare doctors who actually takes the time to talk with you and to listen to what you say. She is not a dermatologist who believes in removing moles for the sake of removing moles, and instead advocates moderation and removing moles when necessary, but not for fun. She offers practical advice that is low on potions and creams and high on overall health and care for your skin as part of that overall health. Believes in nutrition and dietary supplements as a way to change skin's appearance.

Going to Vidal Sassoon is always a treat, but a very expensive one. I have found the hair stylists and colorists to be uniformly quite good. I just wish the environment and staff didn't always have to be quite so out there--it is a little disconcerting, for example to have your hair colored by someone with 4 different colors of pink and green in their hair or to have your hair washed by someone with piercings and tatoos all over. Services are quite expensive, but you can count on them to be done correctly, and there is an option to have your hair done by an apprentice on certain week days for an substantial discount.

Spa Space has many things going for it: innovative treatments, a great and convenient location, talented technicians. The problems, though, stem from some of the staff, who aren't always very friendly (it's not uncommon to have to stand at the check-in desk to wait for staff to finish personal conversations) or professional (I've overheard staff arguing on more than one occasion about getting a client late from their earlier appointment). The women's locker room and waiting area are nice but quite small. I've heard they'll be expanding later this year/early next year, so hopefully they'll be able to add larger waiting facilities.

Wishbone on Washington is located very close to Harpo Studios in the far West Loop area. For brunch, the grits, biscuits and gravy, and other southern favorites are very popular and waiting is common. For lunch and dinner (every day except Monday), try the grilled chicken with mango salsa or catfish. Wishbone offers lots of different choices for sides, but the macaroni and cheese and mashed sweet potatoes are always a favorite.

Monk's is usually packed at lunch time with office workers and lawyers in search of Chicago's best hamburger, served all different ways. After work, it is less busy but the floor quickly becomes covered in peanut shells. I especially recommend the seasoned curly fries and the nachos. For dieters or Atkins-types, you can get your burger without a bun and with a small salad rather than fries. For downtown Chicago, the price is reasonable, but they only have free soda refills at lunch--after work, you have to pay for refills.
