Original Rainbow Cone

To many Chicagoans, the Original Rainbow Cone is just a stand at Taste of Chicago. Those people have no idea what they're misisng. Original Rainbow Cone is actually a (mostly) year-round ice cream shop in southwest Chicago. It is well worth the trip, even from the north side, to have a delicious rainbow cone or other ice cream treat. The shop itself is air conditioned and has lots of outdoor seating, including under the awning in back. There is free parking, but be prepared for a quick line to get ice cream if you're there on a hot day. Also, call ahead for the hours--they close at 9 during the winter and 10:30 during the summer, but I've made the trek there only to discover they were closed.
