This place is great for routine maintenance work. These guys do a decent job in a quick and efficient manner. When I drop off the car in the morning, the work is usually done by mid-morning.
This place is great because:
1. They're honest and willing to tell you to go somewhere else for a generic replacment, especially if it's going to be cheaper (for example: tire change).
2. They'll wash your car for free (with water that won't leave spots) when you go to pick it up. Sometimes you do have to ask because they do forget.
3. Saturday appointments are readily available, as long as you show up early.
4. They'll give you a $25 credit to use towards cab fare or rental car. Just give them your receipts when you pick up your car, and they give you cash.

Usually when you see a great deal for a car in a newspaper ad, there's only one at that price and when you get there, it's "no longer available". Well,
I can say that it's different for the Putnam dealers in Burlingame. Putnam pretty much owns all the dealerships in Burlingame and they have tons of inventory.
When I saw an ad in the paper for a special deal on a Mazda MPV over the weekend, I went to check it out. To my surprise, a selection of cars were available. Instead of the usual, "one at that price" deal, they had five cars at that price.
As the prices were already rock bottom, the saleperson really wouldn't negotiate on price. However, he did throw in some extras like detailing, car mats, etc. The sales people here are nice and not like "used car salesmen" at all.

Yes, there is an alternative to Ikea. EQ3 stocks modern furniture at low prices. EQ3 is a step up in quality and style from IKEA, but the prices are still quite low. EQ3 has furniture for those with a modern sensibility. You won't find Pottery Barn type furniture here.
As far as I know, EQ3 furniture is carried at a lot of furniture stores, but there are only two standalone showrooms.
One showroom is located in SOMA on 9th Street (the furniture district) and there's a small parking lot next door that's free. There's also plenty of street parking.

With two Bay Area locations (one near South Park in San Francisco, the other on College Ave in Berkeley), Jeremys stocks a lot of high-end designer fashions and sells them cheap. That's because they stock end-of-season leftovers, slightly damaged display goods, and customer returns.
I've seen top brands here such as Prada, Marc Jacobs, and Manolo Blahnik. Ok, so you still might not fork over $300 for something that once sold for $1,000 retail but it's nice to know that you can. For those who would still balk at those prices, I've also seen less expensive brands such as J Crew, Anthropologie, and Agnes B.
Be forewarned. You definitely have look through your purchases carefully before you buy. Sweaters may have holes in them. Zippers may not work properly. Pant seams may be ripped slightly. The size selection isn't always the greatest either. You really need to spend time to dig. But when you find that one treasure cheap, you'll be glad that you did.

With only six locations in Northern California, Pluto's (2 in San Francisco), Pluto's is a fresh dining concept that should catch on nationally.
With it's emphasis on low fat ingredients cooked in a healthy, yet tasty manner (grilled, steamed, baked, roasted), it's no wonder Pluto's is so popular among the take-out crowd.
Ordering is a bit like going to the dorm cafeteria. Pick up a punch card. Decide if you want a salad or move directly to the meat and poultry area. Place your order and have them stamp your punch card. Pay at the counter.
I highly recommend the sandwiches with bbq sauce. Yum.

With its hip and funky decor, Relax Now is a modern day spa that caters to both metro men and women. Couples treatments are available in a semi-private room. The service was great and efficient. I would definitely recommend for the day spa first timer.
Bay Area Citysearch has a $25 off 1st Time Customers coupon that you can print. I've heard that if you live in the 94115 zip code, every Tues/Wed, you can get a 10-percent discount on all treatments. Convenient appointment booking service online at www.relaxnow.net.
Credit cards accepted but all tips must be paid in cash only.
Down side when I went: My facialist tried to push some pricey products on me. Just say "no" if you don't want to buy.
