Great Southern cooking!

Thursday, August 04, 2005
A gem in Hyde Park! Once you make your way up the maze of staircases, you'll find a delightful trip down South. The decor is like being in a charming Southern kitchen, complete with old stove, authentic ads from the south and checkered table clothes. The menu is short and simple: catfish (fried, grilled or blackened), jambalaya, gumbo, chicken-fried steak and blacked or grilled chicken breast are the mainstays. The sides are great too: red beans & rice, greens, corn, mashed sweet potatoes and black-eyed peas. Careful: the fried-green tomatoes are spicy, as are the peach-glazed chicken wings. If you have room for dessert, the peach cobbler is great!
