Another convenient location for college students in that area. Nara offers the usual Japanese cuisine such as chicken teriyaki and various sushi combos and appetizers. You can pay extra to get all white meat for the chicken. Also on the menu are some Korean dishes. The price is reasonable with entrees at around $13. However, they are not very creative in their dishes but you get a delicious meal anyhow. It is a nice quaint restaurant with no crowds or rush. You can take your time and the waiters are very attentive.

The only good thing about this restaurant is its convenient location. Otherwise, the food is very mediocre with no exceptional specailties on the menu. The taste is very generic American Chinese food and not at all what REAL Chinese food is like. The price is reasonable with entrees generally around the $8-10 range. The service is prompt and take-out is a good option.

Fresh Grocer's is very convenient for college students and is open 24 hours which is another plus. You can feed those late night munchies without going across the street to McDonald's. They have fresh produce and you are guaranteed to find everything that you need. However, it is on the pricer side but you pay for the value. They also sell prepared foods and sushi, make sandwiches, have a coffee bar, and even seating upstairs for those who want to stay. You can also shop online.

Broadway in Bryant Park is a wonderful lunchtime break away from work. Usually there are around 3 Broadway musicals that perform various acts and it's a way to relax in the park, eat some lunch, and catch some broadway musicals at the same time. It can get quite crowded as people in suits and everyone else sit on the lawn and the tables to catch some free performances from great musicals like Lion King and Mamma Mia! It is everything you would get from a nighttime show but less fanfare. It's a good way to get a preview of a show you are hesitating to watch or a way to find out about a new show.

One of the best free events in the summer is Shakespeare in the Park. The outdoor Delacorte Theatre is home to this event. Although it is a pain to get up early to line up for tickets on the weekends, this high demand show is well worth the 5 hours in line. Definitely go earlier during the week when there are less people. They have two locations to line up for tickets: Central Park and Astor Place. There are more tickets at Central Park I think. You can only get same day tickets and so if you are rained out, it’s too bad for you. There are two different productions each summer. I watched As You Like It and it was fantastic. The actors are very professional and they make use of the stage and outdoor environment.

The park is a great place to go, relax, and chill out away from the business of the city. They have a large grass area with a view of the Triboro Bridge. Many people lie there tanning for the afternoon or sit there after a swim in the Olympic-sized pool. The pool is a great facility and draws a lot of families. It is a very well maintained public pool. You only need to bring a combination lock with you to lock up your stuff. Very secure with a lot of staff around. There is also an outdoor track for the runners and joggers as well as tennis courts.

Union square is a great venue for this farmer's green market. It's spacious and draws a large variety of people. The produce is fantastic. There are a lot of organic options and many fruits and vegetables. If you get there at the end of the day, some of the vendors sell what they have left over at a discounted price. There are a number of vendors selling refreshing juices. Also, they have many baked good stands with lots of different cookies, breads, pies, and other yummy goodies.

This small, off the theatre district comedy club is not worth the discounted cover and 2 drink minimum. The cocktails are expensive and the acts are at best ok. It is not very crowded and much of the audience are tourists suckered into coming. The comedians don't interact much with audience. Many of the jokes stem from picking on a certain aspect of an audience member.

Convenient location and 24 hour store opening makes Top Tomato a good stop anytime of day. There are fresh produce coming in at various times and there's high rotation so freshness is not a problem. It's not a big store nor do they carry a wide variety of produce or fruits. It has the essentials for basic grocery shopping. No specialty foods but good prices. Cello carrots can be on special for 39cents and bananas at 3lbs for 99cents. They also have good strawberry and blueberry deals. Grapes and peaches are good purchases as well. They have a small selection of cereals and dried fruit and a small dairy section. I wouldn't come here for intense grocery shopping or when you need ideas for dinner. As stated earlier, it's got the basic things. Right in front of the store is a bus stop so you don't have to carry bulky grocery bags for too long.

Being in the theatre district makes this Italian restaurant very popular and busy. It has two floors and the decor is very homey. There is a bar downstairs for you while you wait for your table. The waiters are very nice and they sing if it's your birthday. The food is family-style and the menu is creatively placed on the wall. Everything is generously prepared. They have great seafood plates like the shrimp scampi. The lasanga was huge and stuffed with pasta. It's not the most healthy option since there is a lot of heavy ingredients but it's Italian food! The pasta dishes have big portions but the other chicken, seafood, and meat portions are more adequately proportioned. There's definitely enough to go around plus some. The prices for entrees are around $15-$20. You will definitely have a good time there.
