I went to this museum when I had a trip to Arizona in July. From the front entrance, I thought it was a small museum where gather different types of cactus and other desert plant, but we actually took about 6 hours to finish visiting this desert museum. It is like an outdoor garden combines with a small zoo. This museum also features underground treasure from Arizona such as dinosaur’s bones and different types of crystal like minerals. I especially like the night programs they designed. At night, there are park rangers at different stations teach and explain different things that we didn’t learn and see in the morning. For example, I chose to go back to the rock and mineral site to see the fluorescent rocks. It turned out those fluorescent rocks are the ones we saw on the ground of the mineral site in the morning. These rocks changed into more mysterious colors at night. This museum trip was totally worth it. They try to show how these habitants and plants live and adopt in desert weather and geography. I was able to see every animals in their area in a close distance and they were active. I did not see any unavailable sign hung out nor site with hidden animals. The ticket is $7 and divide up the hours I spent in the museum = $1.. per hour. I think it is worth it.

Tri-City sporting store is the only one store in Bay Area carries large selections of needs in all kinds of sports. People who work there have pretty good senses in different sports. I like to go there when they have sale for the ski/snowboard goods and apparels. They keep update their goods, so it makes their selections in style. They also have wax and rental services for board and boots in a reasonable price. The store is pretty neat and doesn’t get crowded.

The coffeehouse in La Jolla on the Prospect St. provides a theme of middle class family’s living room. Each of the chairs and tables is one of a kind which breaks the image of union sets of furniture in most people’s house. I bring friends to there at night because it opens late until midnight daily. The coffee tastes quiet rich and they have so many choices of refreshments that always give me a hard time to decide which one to order. This coffeehouse has a rectangular shape and down inside the house on the right side has a great window view. Different corners provide different feelings. I keep going back to this place because of the drinks, and I can always find my own spot that suits me.

Mimio is a paper store next to the Blick in Pasadena. The owners import varies of selections from different countries. I like the pattern prints they imported, some of them are the ones I have never seen. The clerks were pretty nice. I think most importantly, Mimio offers workshops to teach people about how these delicate papers can turn into something useful, such as bookbinding. I learned the basic techniques of bookbinding from book, but during the process, I still had some questions came out and felt unconfident by myself. I think Mimio is offering a great opportunity to learn about the hand craft and bookbinding techs in live.

Ferrari is a high performance car with flowed line designs. It can be listed on the top of the most wanting car because its horse powers and model designs. Extraordinary Dessert has the level of Ferrari’s quality in dessert category. There are two locations in SD and each of their exterior designs has unique and different style. I remembered I kept saying wow since I stepped into the front door of the store until I was full by the cake and tea. Cakes were like 3D art pieces with royal designs and presented with final touch on the serving plate. The sweetness of the cake was just right. Place like this is definitely for enjoyment and have a long time talk with your friends.

168 locates inside the 99 ranch market. It offers mainly Taiwanese dishes. If you are not a high demanding in cleanness, then this is okie to go in SD. It is more like a take out and to go type of restaurant but, certainly there are spaces for seatings. The chicken steak rice is most students’ favorite order and the contents include a marinated egg, seasonal veggies, and spicy radish/ pickled veggie which tastes a little sweet (my favorite). 168’s food is not bad, but the service is not that descent. The owners themselves are nice, but the people they hired were not. I dined in there with other friends once, and we were not able to finish our shared dishes and rice. When I asked for a to-go box, the waitress gave me a none polite glance and said in Chinese “these are not a lot of food in each dish, and you still want to make them to go!?” Without hesitation, I shrugged my shoulders, replied “yes” and thought it should be out of her business. I packed all the food and turned out I had 2/3 of the box filled. Her attitude did not let us feel comfortable.

I am reserving one star because I have not yet experience any stays in this Hotel. I cannot lie to other viewers of this review for something that I have never experience myself. So, what are the full color stars I am giving for? They represent the harmonious atmosphere, the unique design of the architect, the traditions that being kept, and the cleanness. As being a tourist of SD, I was brought to see its rare view once at a very night while sitting in the car, but I was attracted in the dark by the huge cupolas which were made into ½ open umbrella shape. Then I knew I will visit her again later. A few months ago, I had a cup of warm coffee in the car while driving on the way home from Coronado in an evening. I decided to have my coffee somewhere in there. The sunset shade projected the cascade leaves' shadow on the ground like the celebrity’s red carpet led me a way to the front door of the hotel. The passion red roofs soon cascaded into my eyes and seemed very inviting. The mix of darker interior colors sedated the tiring travelers. The elevator in the corner of the lobby was the beauty of the antique and there was an assistant in there to operate it. I found a comfort spot right next to the imperial like design open bar sip my almost not warmed coffee when I enjoyed listening to the pianist play his songs and watched people dance in the dancing pound. I continuous ignored my tongue’s signal of needing hot coffee, I signaled back with a message to the tongue: they are just from starbucks.

A few years ago as a photography novice who didn’t know much about the supply terms, I felt embarrassed to walk into a photo supply store to ask for the stuff that I needed. I pictured that there would be a lot of question marks above the clerks when I tried to describe something. Also, as a poor student, I needed to find the balance between my budge and quality of the products. I have no ideas about where to go to get my supply at first. I figured wherever the Art Store (Blick ) located, there would always have other professional stores open around. I started to flash back in memory and thought that I saw a Nelson Photo Supply’s sign with business hours in front of the door adjacent to the Art Store once after I got my art supplies. I decided only to give it a shot; however, nowadays, I still go to them when I need my supplies. People who works there are pretty helpful and don’t give the look as I am dumb in photography. They sell larger quantity, for example, the print papers were packaged in 100 sheets per box, which is cheaper than 50 sheets per box that sells in other stores. There are clerks served in almost every counter, so customers can always ask someone else when the lady in front of you ask a lot of questions.

I had always dined there for jp cuisine before it got popular in Fremont. Why, I did not go there anymore because I had to move to other place. It is a small restaurant where provides a home atmosphere. Yuki is always in his store to make food for the customers even he is the owner of the restaurant. Perhaps I am trying to say you won’t see a bunch of trained labors hand molding the sushi. He has a real cool cook in the kitchen for hot dishes and another apprentice-cook, (clear my throat) my friend, to help him support his business due to increasing number of the customers. Yuki go to those fish port markets to select the varieties himself in very early mornings, so his sashimi/ sushi are always fresh. He always creates new types of flavors. I consider him as an artist type of cook. I was afraid of eating raw fish, but after the first try at Yuki, I was actually enjoying the true flavors of different fish and not worried the fishy odors. I guarantee you will have what you want in your mouths for every bite. If you feel the price is a bit high, that is because you only been to the chain stores. The quality and quantity of the dishes and services that Yuki offers are unforgettable. My favorites are the baby claim (sooo sweet), his spicy tuna roll (has his home made sauce poured) and …. … I should stop here and let you have a try there.

Norton Simon museum is located at the end of the Colorado street across Ralphs. It is always one of my top choices to go at the end of the shopping day especially during summer. It doesn't occupy a big area as MOCA, but the contents are quiet enough for visitors to stay for 2 hours to learn and look. I think the 3 main sections show the highlights of strong art periods around the world. I recommend art students to stroll around and take a closer look at the art works instead of just memorizing the terms from the books. Parking fee is not required and free for students!
