I love this place! You don't have to be a student or affiliated with the University to go there. It's very reasonable, and both the staff and vets are so nice. The atmosphere is comforting, and they're very thorough and sensitive to a particular pet's needs. I have nothing but good things to say about them and recommend them for anyone in need of a good, affordable vet. They are so friendly and will try to keep costs down for you, without subjecting your pet to any unecessary tests, etc.

The Animal Trustees of Austin operate a wellness clinic and one for getting your pet spayed or neutered. While they don't deal with "sick" pets, they do offer a host of services like routine and preventitive care, including vaccinations. The staff is friendly and the vet and vet assistants I dealt with seemed very knowledgeable and had good recommendations. The wait can be long though, so call ahead to find out when they're least busy times are. They accept walk-ins, and I don't think they even take appointments. Still, it's worth it for the quality and service they provide.

While I can't speak to Mr. Dunn's competence when he's in court, I can address the way he treats clients, and it's highly disturbing. Someone close to me was his client, and after over 3 years, he never gave her her settlement money. He wrote her bad checks for her portion of the settlement--the bank said funds weren't available. He never returns her phonecalls, and his receptionists have lied that he's in meetings or out of the office when she's gone to his office to try and get her money. I wouldn't use his services unless I didn't plan on seeing my money! I've asked other attorneys about his conduct and they've said that he should be disbarred. Moreover, he has violated SEVERAL of the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Conduct that govern the behavior of lawyers. (I say this as someone who is in the legal field and has had to study and adhere to these rules).

Try their puffy tacos--they're great and inexpensive. Their hours are somewhat limited, so check ahead of time--I believe they're closed on the weekend. Also, on Fridays, for lunch, they give gorgeous, multi-colored long stem roses to all the females who come in, and they have rose petals in the bathroom. The decor is neat and modernistic, and the bathrooms are very clean (a plus!).

It's really inexpensive and the pho is fantastic---I recommend the pho with eggrolls (they have pork and are delicious). The staff is friendly, atmosphere is very casual, and you can get a huge meal for about $6.00. It's worth checking out--and they have a huge, really neat aquarium in the middle of the restaurant as well.

My experience has been with Jim McCormack, a partner at TCM, and it has been a perfect and extremely rewarding one. Jim is extremely nice, laid-back, understanding, and a great listener. He works hard and works with people's differing financial situation. He has a ton of experience and is incredibly smart, and if he can't take a case, he will usually have a great person to refer you to. An excellent firm, all-around.

Kansas State University is a very good-sized and well-rounded university, located in Manhattan, Kansas (the Little Apple). It's got a large population--about 20,000 students, which is nice. There are some excellent faculty members in the English, Communication/Speech, History, Women's Studies, and Agricultural fields. It's one of the top agricultural schools in the country, has a really good and fun football team, and a very active alumni support system. It's a bargain and the campus life is fun, with lots of university-related activities and "Aggieville," the local bar district literally within walking distance.

The Heritage Farmstead is a museum in Plano, TX that consists of an authentically restored fourteen room 1895 Victorian farmshouse complete with all of its original outbuildings. It's in the heart of Plano, and it has most of the original stuff--they'll show you a 19th century kitchen and tell you how things were made, preserved, etc. There's a nice gift shop and it's cheap--only $3.50 for adults and $2.50 admission for children and seniors. A great family place to visit!

The Hebron Branch of the Carrollton Public Library is a new facility that is state of the art and very nice. It has a very large selection and includes a coffeshop and internet access, as well as movie rentals (VHS and DVD). The library is clean and in a very pretty area, surrounded by trees and a creek. It's open until 9 p.m. most nights and the staff is very nice and efficient.
