Vantage West Credit Union is not a good place for anything related to your finances. \r \r I've only been with Vantage West Credit Union for less than a month and from what I've seen so far, I feel like transferring my car loan to a major bank. Everything they do at VWCU is more complicated than it needs to be. I set up my car loan account online on VWCU's website yesterday and it's a hassle. First of all, you're forced to have a so-called ""Shares Account"", which is really a savings account, and I suspect that I'm going to have to pay a $25.00 annual membership fee. Something I was not told about at the dealership. \r \r The worst part is how their web application is set up. All I wanted to do is set up a way to make my car payments online and by using my checking account with my regular major bank. I'm able to do that with all of my other bills by adding either my checking account number or debit card number, simple enough and it works fine for all the payees. Not with VWCU, the way it works is, I have to transfer funds from my Bank's checking account into the savings account with VWCU, which can take up to 5 days, then once the funds are in the savings account, I'll have to transfer the funds from the savings account to the car loan account. Definitely not a good way to do business online and I can't understand why they have to make this so complicated. I'll also end up making the car payment 5 days late. Thankfully, they'll give me a 10-day grace period before they add penalties or fees on the car loan. \r \r If you're buying a car, I would ask the dealership's finance department, or whoever is in charge of doing the loan, about which financial institution the loan will be done through and if they tell you that it'll be Vantage West Credit Union, I would either tell them to use a different company, or you'll go shop for a car somewhere else. I would definitely NOT recommend VWCU. \r \r Mike more
