Editorial review from Citysearch 10/9/2013

Our 10-year old black lab mix Lucy had suddenly gone blind due to diabetes a few months ago. Our vet referred us to Dr. Silverman and we are very happy he did. He diagnosed her with cataracts in both eyes and ran a series of tests to determine if she was eligible for surgery, which she was. As long as we scheduled the surgery within 30 days, which of course we did, we were refunded the complete amount for the tests, which was considerable. He removed her lenses and replaced them with artificial lenses. The surgery was successful - her left eye rejected the artificial lens, but we learned that a lens is not necessary for vision - and she appears to have perfect vision again. Her right eye compensates for the impaired vision on her left side. She runs and jumps as if she had years removed from her life. I like to add that there was a 3 week recovery period that was rigorous and that included up to 7 different drop and 3 different pills several times a day, which we administered strictly according to schedule. I believe Dr. Silverman knows what he is doing, but it's important that you do your part and follow the instructions, as well. It is obvious that he cares deeply about the animals in his care. We have been to specialists before and have been charged considerably more for considerably less. We have also dialed his after-hours number before, because we had been concerned over the way Lucy's eye had looked a few days after surgery, and he picked up immediately. We would recommend Dr. Silverman to anyone.\r more
