Dr. Brown was our problem, not our solution. We went to him with a legitimate problem caused by another vet in his practice and his only response was to refuse further treatment for our two rescue dogs, one an epileptic and the other partially blind.\r \r Dr. Brown is the controlling partner at at least one other vet practice not in Buffalo/Amherst. This is not advertised at either location. Our event happened at his other location, but we think Buffalo/Amherst residents should be aware of Dr. Brown's level of cynicism and care for animals under his practices.\r \r We have been good and well-known clients at Dr. Brown's other location for over 5 years. We turned up 5 mins.early for our appointment on the day in question. We got bumped. The receptionist advised that the prior client had turned up on time and that there was no emergency involved. The vet on duty (not Dr. Brown) and the prior client simply took our time, being able to see us waiting. 35 mins later we got up to leave. We complained on the way out. We did so entirely reasonably. There were no raised voices. In fact, we told the receptionist (who had done a great job of keeping things calm) that we would re-set the appointment when they weren't so busy.\r \r When he heard that we had complained, the vet on duty came out of the consultation room and without inquiring about any facts or what had just happened, he told us, ""There's no need for you to be here. Get off the premises or I will call the police."" That was all he said.\r \r We presented these facts in writing to Dr. Brown and demanded an apology for the behavior of his junior vet. Dr. Brown responded by email, ""Feel free to start arranging alternative care for Hooch and Charlie."" \r \r In his response, Dr. Brown did not address any of the facts we had raised or our raised concerns about the future specialist care our dogs need. He simply invited us not to return.\r \r Dr. Brown is entitled to refuse service to anyone, just as we are entitled to tell others about him doing so for no just cause. Dr. Brown's practices claim, ""We treat your pet as we would our own."" The facts reveal a level of cynicism that is quite different. If you have a legitimate concern and express it to Dr. Brown, you and your pet will be dropped. more
