My big beautiful 75-lb, 7-mo-old Labradoodle jumped out of my car window (it was down halfway so he could enjoy the breeze) a few blocks from this vet. I wanted to get him to the closest place so I GPSed vet and went here. Dr. von Eiff asked me many pointed questions along the lines of, ""HOW fast were you going?"" ""How did he get these puncture wounds?"" ""Are you sure he didn't get hit by a car?"" and my favorite ""He looks pretty beat up for a dog that jumped out of a car window."" I didn't want to admit that after I stabbed him with an ice pick I shoved him out a 2 story window where he was then run over by a cement spreader. wtf? I was in such a vulnerable state at that moment and it was quite upsetting to be asked these kinds of questions. Puncture wounds? There was one (others were road rash) and that was the result of his tibia coming out through the skin. I cannot imagine what is going on in this man's mind that he would doubt my ""story"" especially since I see he has been practicing for 44 years. Even if I had stabbed my dog and thrown him out a window, what difference would that make? He needed treatment. Oh, and the cost of wound cleaning and an IV? $600. It cost $400 for him to stay overnight at Gulf Coast Hospital. more
