I came across this animal exhibit recently and was overall disappointed. Petting zoos should be happy and enjoyable, but I couldn't get past the animals that were stressed and how tiny the cages were for some. Now if you could care less about animals suffering needlessly, then it would be a good experience.
My concerns were for the animals; children were poking them with sticks, animals were in cages so small they couldn't stand or move (i.e. no escape from the stick poking), and some appeared sedated or otherwise unable to move. The lemur was screaming and biting at its cage and not one staff member was in sight.
On the bight side however, the children did seem very entertained and they had a number of different animals - free roaming goats, a sheep (wearing a hat-cute!), a pony, rabbits (in a small cage), Peking ducks (in an even smaller cage- couldn't move, feet pressed against the cage), (the fore-mentioned screaming) lemur, and some others I didn't get to see. At this point I had seen enough to ruin the entire experience, so why hang around...
I would recommend they have more staff with the animals to not only supervise interactions but to educate as well. This way they could prevent the stick poking, calm the stressed animals (to prevent the full blown monkey-panic attack I witnessed) and provide a better experience without causing undue stress on the animals.
