I moved into a two bedroom at Garden 3/1/2012

I moved into a two bedroom at Garden Glen because I had just moved to Portland and needed low cost rent in a safe location until I found a job. The place needs a serious face lift. The kitchen cabinets are so dirty, worn and shabby that I have been unable to use them for anything other than canned goods because they ""shed"" dust from the press ""card"" board that they are made of. They are the original cabinets and the complex was built in the 70s. You do the math! The windows are old and they drip on the inside no matter what you do. Management's suggestion was to open the window a bit. Really?? So are they going to subsidize my power bill as well? The metal tracks for the closets are rusted and nasty and they had trash stuck in the grooves. I actually pulled out an old lollipop stick and other gross things that were never cleaned by management. The carpets were never cleaned or if they were, they must have needed a second treatment. I had to treat for flea infestation as well. The toilet backs up for absolutely no logical reason and the walls rattle like the New York subway when the guy upstairs flushes his. I get really upset when I do the math. This property is most likely paid for but the owners are just getting rich raking in the rent from everyone and they don't spend much to make it livable. I am certainly not renewing my lease when my ""sentence"" is up. I'm going to find something where the tenants are treated with more respect by the owners. I don't blame the people in the office since they're just doing their job and they probably don't have much authority. Bottom line.....do not rent an apartment here!! more
