STAY AWAY & BEWARE OF HOLIDAY CLEANERS FOR BAIT & SWITCH 2/22/2012

STAY AWAY & BEWARE OF HOLIDAY CLEANERS for bait & switch, misrepresentation & false advertisement to their customers. They will take your order, charge you $5 accepts your garment but when you pick it up, they say you owe them $2 because their tailor apparently increased the price of alteration. They will NOT release your garment unless you pay them for the difference. CLASSIC BAIT & SWITCH, MISLEADING & FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. ============================================== Last 03 Feb, I came to their store for minor repair on 4 blouses (shortening & stitching of straps). I was initially quoted $6 by one of their associates by the name of Brenda. I bargained for $5 per garment, which she accepted. I picked up the blouses on 08 Feb without any problem. Pleased with their price & service, I went back to the store exactly 10 days later, 18 Feb (Sat) to have more blouses done for the same repair. I met with Walter, the manager and he was charging me $12 a piece! Being overcharged 120%, of course I refused to pay for it. I told him that I have a receipt to show him that a week ago, I had my clothes repaired for only $5.00 a piece. Walter told me he will acknowledge the price I paid the past week if I will show him my receipt. I went back a few hours later with the receipt from the previous repair. Walter acknowledged the charge of $5.00 a piece for the 8 garments and I paid them in full on that same day, 18 Feb. I called the following Monday, 20 Feb and spoke to Brenda. The reason for the call was to inquire when I could pick up my clothes as well as report the unpleasant experience with Walter. She assured me that it was a mistake on Walter's part. She said Walter misquoted me by providing me the price on hem alteration. Brenda assured me she will make the necessary adjustments on my account for the correct charge. I told her it was not necessary since Walter acknowledge the $5.00 per garment alteration and that I've already paid for it. When I came back today, 22 February, I was told by another associate by the name of Maria that I owe them a balance of $16.00. I was told that the tailor increased the price by $2 per garment for the repair and so I have to pay for the difference. I tried to reason with Maria that maybe as a courtesy, they should not let me pay the balance of $16 since they did not even call me to let me know of the price increase. I was not given any option whether to accept the price increase or not. Bottomline, they refuse to release my garment because I want not amenable to paying the $16.00 difference. I stayed in the store for about 30 mins. I told them it was an illegal and dishonest business practice. I told them I will report them to the Bureau that they are deceiving their customers, but Maria refuse to budge. I was given no option but to get the name of the President of the company (who apparently was Walter Bonilla, the guy who initially tried to charge me $12 per garment) so I could file a complaint against them. more
