I've been a LOYAL customer to Discount Tire for years, having purchased multiple sets of wheels and tires from them for a variety of vehicles. I always thought their prices were fair, and service was professional.
HOWEVER, this summer they managed to strip 4 lug bolts on my car, and tried to argue it wasn't their fault because I must've had another shop do work on my car (thus Discount cannot be blamed for the damage). Once I explained that they are the only Tire Shop I go to, they conceded to pay for the repair, yet required me to spend the time and money to get it repaired (later refunding the cost). I was OK with that experience. They took me on my word (after a brief argument), and ended up footing the bill.
Recently, I took my car in with a leaking tire, hoping they could repair it for me. After inspecting the tire, they informed me that it could not be repaired due to the area where the nail penetrated the tire. They said I would have to replace all 4 tires (because it's an all wheel drive car) and the cost would be over $1300 (I buy nice tires). I asked if there's ANYWAY they could fix it, they said ""No""'
I then informed them that I had purchased the tires through them, and was sure I paid for insurance on the tires (to insure against expenses such as these). They failed to notice this, but once they found this to be true, they said I would receive all 4 new tires for $410 (meaning Discount Tire would have to eat around $900). After a minute, they came back and said ""Actually, we can now fix the tire.""
When they thought I had no insurance on Tires = Tire cannot be fixed = $1300 cost.
Once they realized I had Insured the Tires = Tire can be fixed = FREE.
Funny how that works...
