Sometimes You Just Have to Keep Looking 2/11/2011

I toured here not too long ago and I was not impressed. I went inside to find the Director and ask for information about the company. When talking about the care my children would receive, I found that not much information besides basic care was shared. I believe all child care centers provide meals, nap time, and time outside. I suppose I want to make sure state guidelines are met or even better, overachieved. I want to know that my children will be more than attended to for their basic needs; I want their teachers to truly love on them and everyone enjoys their day. The Director took me on a tour of the facility and it I did not anticipate what I saw. The hallways felt over cluttered with various things and I just wasn't sure where to look first. The building just seemed old, there was an odor throughout, and the equipment and facility was not well maintained. Upon entering one of the classrooms, she introduced me to the teacher there but did nothing else while we were in the room. She basically walked me into ... and I was not impressed. The building just seemed old, there was an odor throughout, and the equipment and facility was not well maintained. Upon entering one of the classrooms, she introduced me to the teacher there but did nothing else while we were in the room. She basically walked me into the front of the room, said this is it, and just stood there. I glanced around the room to see children playing and looking happy, I also saw art work and pictures on the walls. I wasn't sure where to look first or what was what in the room. The most important point of the tour, the classroom, was hardly focused on or shown besides the entrance of the room. I left feeling disappointed and unsure of the KinderCare brand. I feel the Director was out of touch with the school, lacking the ability to discuss the classrooms beyond their daily schedules. I can read the daily schedules; I want to know the real happening beyond the print. I want to know what my child are learning, how much fun they were having while they made new discoveries. I chose not to enroll here because I feel I know hardly anything about the school. I honestly read more on the KinderCare site about their programs than during my tour. I did however visit a private nearby center just down the road which was faith based. I recommend all the parents traveling to each school and touring them all before choosing one KinderCare was my first stop and I just had to keep looking more
