Wendy's kicks autistic child out of restaurant 8/5/2010

My car was towed from this parking lot after purchasing food at the Wendy's drive-through then leaving the car to walk to other stores in the nearby mini-mall. I am single parenting four children on an extremely tight budget, and they didn't care that I shelled out the last $125 I have until my next paycheck to release my only form of transportation from their clutches, instead of buying groceries for my children. The owner/employee of Doak towing went so far as to refuse to bring my car back after getting payment for it, suggesting that I abandon my four children to accompany him in his truck for a 45-minute round trip drive because it ""wasn't his job"" to bring the cars back. It was only after someone else stepped in that he grudgingly agreed to return the car to the lot. I understand that lot is posted ""Wendy's Parking Only"", but I thought buying food at Wendy's made me a customer. The lot next door was jam-packed and Wendy's only had 5 out of what is probably 40-plus spots taken. The only alternative for us would have been to park across the highway and walk across four lanes of very busy traffic with one teen and three small children (aged 7, 6, and 3, one disabled) in tow. In addition, we HAD purchased food at Wendy's and WERE regular patrons (anyone with an autistic child knows how obsessive they can be about their chicken nuggets and french fries). While waiting in the parking lot for over an hour for the tow truck to return with my vehicle, my autistic child, age 7, had a bowel movement in his pants and I couldn't even clean him up because the Wendy's Manager kicked us out of the restaurant where we were waiting for the tow truck to return. The General Manager then said he didn't care how many people we told because it ""wouldn't affect his business at all"". Doak towing has a spotter in the parking lot on Thursday-Saturday nights, we later found out. It's his job to watch you until you leave, then call the tow guy. The tow guy blames the management at Wendy's for picking which cars get towed, and the Wendy's management blames the tow guy - but it is clearly a revenue-raiser for each of them and they care more about their bottom line than a disabled child and a family with small children. They also charged some poor guy $60 to stop blocking his truck in with the threat of towing, and all he was doing was talking to his 7-month pregnant girlfriend about 30 feet away. Wendy's GM and Doak Towing get two thumbs down for being disgusting individuals and treating their customers like dirt. more
