I went to Dr. Gilikin when my insurance changed. None of the office workers spoke to me when I entered the office. I picked up a clipboard and filled out the new patient papers without even an acknowledgment from behind the counter. Very little privacy in that office, I could hear Dr's consultations and business managers conversations with patients from the waiting room. I had to ask that my consultation with the business manager afterward be in private rather than at the counter where everyone can hear. Had comprehensive exam with full x-rays. Would not accept x-rays from any other dentist. I felt I was treated like a child with hygienist instructing me how to brush and floss then later the doctor doing the same. Although I had mostly 3s and 2s and a few 4s on the probing, he tells me that my gums are in terrible condition and will need to have some aggressive work done. Said he would give me the benefit of the doubt and not order a deep cleaning and scaling but a regular cleaning with irrigation and fluoride treatment, with me returning in 4 weeks for follow up. I came to my previous dentist after being without dental care for over 10 years with many 5s and some 6s. With regular semiannual cleanings my gums have improved to mostly 3s and 2s. Although I am 42 and have had zero cavities all my life and have zero loss of bone even after having orthodontics, Dr. Gilikin saw a need to give me a fluoride treatment and put sealants on all of my back teeth as if I were a child. The cost out of pocket for me would have been $460. I was allowed to refuse the sealants but could not refuse the irrigation and fluoride treatment. When I did, he dropped me as a patient. His word is law and if you speak up for your pocket book he will give you the boot. I say good riddance.
