I still have pain one year after surgery. 7/14/2010

Dr. Somers performed bunion surgery on both my big and little toes in July, 2009. I returned to him several times complaining that I was still having pain and was unable to walk for more than an hour or so without severe pain. He made x-rays and said everything looked fine. I finally consulted another doctor who diagnosed Morton's neuroma and plantar fascitis. I believe these problems were caused by Dr. Somers's follow-up care after my surgery. I left the hospital wearing a rigid-soled shoe with an adjustable velcro closure. I wore this shoe for several weeks after the surgery since I couldn't wear regular shoes because of the swelling. Dr. Somers knew this as I was wearing it on my visits to him and told him I couldn't wear regular shoes, yet he failed to warn me that this could cause other problems. Later, when I continued to have pain, he did not diagnose either Morton's neuroma or plantar fascitis nor did he suggest other tests to determine the cause of the pain or offer any treatment. I've read the other positive reviews but I would advise choosing another doctor. Pros: Location Cons: Didn't diagnose common foot problems after surgery. more
