I was a patient of Dr. Buchanan's for 8+ years and never had any issues with his care or the quality of his work. When I got married, my husband (who hadn't seen a dentist for 15 years due to no insurance) went to see Dr. Buchanan. My husband needed several fillings and some other work done. We were covered by TWO dental plans and asked that a treatment plan be set up to minimize any out-of-pocket expenses. A lot of the work was completed... so much work that each time my husband was asked to make his next appointment (by the reception staff) my husband asked each time where he at within the treatment plan. He was told each time that everything was fine. I finally called to check to be sure we were within our policies' plan limits for the year. As usual, it was impossible to reach Monica right away - she is always ""at another office today."" A few days later, she called back and informed me that we were over the limit and that we now owed over $800 out-of-pocket! I argued with her about the whole purpose of the treatment plan and asked why the office had proceeded with treatment KNOWING that the insurance limit had been reached for that year. Her response was that we shouldn’t have asked the person doing the scheduling; we should have only spoken with her (the one who’s never in the office and who is so very pleasant to deal with). And then she refused to do anything about the $800 bill that we would have NEVER agreed to incur at that time. It is because of her that I would never ever recommend this dental practice.
Pros: No problems with Dr. Buchanan or his work; Convenient hours
Cons: Billing Department (Monica)
