Not even as a last resort 11/27/2010

This review is entirely my opinion. As someone who grew up in State College, I've never really cared for the Phyrst. Don't get me wrong, I love dive bars and my favorite was the Brickhouse (RIP), but the Phyrst seemed like a pretty dull, mainstream crowd for my tastes. Skip ahead twenty years and I was at home visiting my parents for Thanksgiving on 11/26/10. My friend and I went down to see the band. We were dancing and having fun until someone by the bar hosed us down with, what I would assume was the soda water gun, although the stream of water was so violent and it was so shocking, I could not see who did it. It was hard to be amused. I couldn't have cared less if someone had spilled a pitcher on me by accident, but this was clearly on purpose, considering the length of time the stream of water was directed at us. We were soaked, it was below freezing outside, and it killed the evening for us. No one who worked at the bar would cop to who had done it or tell me what the liquid was. The manager simply didn't care what had happened and asked why I was bothering him about it. Shooting a stream of water at someone on purpose isn't cute, sexy wet t-shirt time; it's assault and battery. That, combined with the female bartenders dressed in something considerably smaller than a Hooters uniform has lead me to conclude that the Phyrst staff are clueless jerks who don't care what happens to their customers. I seriously wonder why anyone with a shred of self-respect would go there. more
