I have been eating at Niester's for several years and used to find it very good. Lately, however, I am very disappointed with the food, service and sanitation. The last time I visited for breakfast - Jan 26, 2010 - the food tasted like the grease it was cooked in was rancid. The time before that I was served soup that was microwaved. The edges were hot but the potato chunks in the soup were cold. The lettuce on the sandwich was brown on the edges. I purchased some smoked pork chops to take home on the way out and the deli person - a woman - picked through them to select them with her bare hands. The floors are very dirty in the deli area. This place used to be the best and it was a treat to eat there, but no longer. I won't be going back.
Pros: great bread when fresh
Cons: poor sanitation - quality of food has declined
