More a Diner than an Eatery
Thursday, August 06, 2009
The name GALAXY DINER fits it better. From the counter to the booths, it's more diner than eatery (or drinkery). Our group of a dozen or so were the entire crowd, except for a few stragglers at the bar. The smallish place has one server, who was accommodating, if not Ms. Congeniality. Despite the Galaxy theme, the place was quite down-to-earth. A standard diner menu, with a few extra goodies like vegetarian potstickers. We didn't order main courses, so we can't comment on that. The calamari, we can say, was happily ungreasy. The beer selection was a step above BUD, BUD LITE, COORS. They even had Sapporo in those fancy silver cans. It's a good place to go for a quiet evening with a group. It won't be crowded. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers
Pros: quiet, unpretentious
Cons: very unspecial
