Seems nice at first, until he does something wrong 8/15/2009

Arthur seemed really nice and friendly at first when I dropped my clothes off the first few times. We chatted in one of the six languages he is proudly fluent in and I was pleased with the service even if the costs were a bit high. Then something happened. I took him three pairs of pants to get hemmed ASAP. He proudly predicts my inseam measurement without even measuring (we do measure to double check) and proclaims they'll be done in less than 24 hours. I was happy to get them the next day cause I was in a hurry, but when I got them home, all three pairs were an inch short. I went back and he blames me for telling him the wrong inseam. WTF? We were both there when it was measured! After his aggressive attitude, I dropped it and vowed never to go back. I figured nothing could be done anyway because when they're too long you can do something about it, but too short, I'm screwed. I moved away and finally decided to get one of the pants rehemmed. When I took them to a REAL tailor, he pointed out a few things to me denoting the quality of the original hemming done by Arthur's crew at Rittenhouse. First, the pants were hemmed unevenly - one leg was about 1/2 inch longer than the other. And the hemming was done with a single thread that would have fallen apart very easily if I wore them - but, since they were too short and made me look like Steve Erkle I couldn't. Then I started talking to friends who still lived in the neighborhood and the vast majority came out saying they had had negative experiences there. I still visit Philly and I'll never go back to this cleaners. Pros: Can be a nice guy and good cleaners Cons: When he screws up, you're the one that gets blamed more
