I took in some very expensive (Lucchese) boots that had been badly scuffed and discolored. The color was an unusual light pumkin so difficult to match. In response to my question as to how to remove the black marks, they helpfully told me to use rubbing alcohol. They recommended, though, that to restore the boots to like-new condition, I let them re-dye them. They did a wonderful job and one week later I had boots that looked brand new.
