I was very excited to visit this needlepoint shop in Monterey. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations.
I had barely opened the shop door when I was greeted harshly with "Can I help you with something?" rather than "Hi" or "Welcome". I was the only customer in the shop.
The owner was very involved with her own needlepoint project and was not helpful at all. I was looking for a certain category of canvas and asked if she had canvases of that type. She answered with "They are all over" and went back to stitching her own canvas. No additional assistance was offered or suggestions made.
I let the owner know I was from out of the area. Where I live, there are not any needlepoint shops. Anyone savvy in the business would know this. I was surprised that I wasn't offered more assistance as I would have been happy to build a relationship with her and order all my canvases and fibers over the phone with her. However, her customer service left me with a bad taste. I was planning to buy a canvas and fibers while I was there, but decided to order it from another Northern California shop.
The owner needs to work on her customer service skills. It is for this reason that I cannot recommend patronizing this shop.
What a disappointment.
Pros: Had a nice trunk show
Cons: Customer Service is bad. Owner isn't helpful or friendly.
