Boulder is where the beautiful people live, in the case of The West End Tavern it is too bad this is not a place where quality chefs dwell. Pub grub - burgers, fish and chips, bbq seems easy enough. I went to The West End primarily because the reviews of the burgers were over the top. When people say something is the best that becomes the expectation. I really tier of the use of complex names to describe sub-par dishes. You look at the menu and feel as if you should be intimidated by the ”smoked bacon, balsamic greens & mayo on marble rye”. This is epidemic in the culinary field that equals excessive costs to the customer. How can restaurateurs make the ordinary sound good enough to charge inflated prices for? They give it a grandiose title and “BAM!!!”, that will be $20 please. Back to point. I ordered a cheeseburger, now be advised that a establishment that serves pub grub only has only four, yes I said four, variations of the hamburgers on the menu. Not to mention the reviews of these four burgers was just breathtaking. I think terms like “The best!!” were used. And of course the meat a special, locally raise and sanitized for your enjoyment. The truth is the meat was slightly overcooked and the lettuce was one nasty rib that was hanging off the side of the bun upon delivery. The cheese looked like something out of an adult movie, all liquidly and smeared all over the meat. The impotent selection of beer only has domestic lagers to choose from. Lagers not only go well with pub grub they are the best selection on a hot summer day. Please serve Stella! If this is the standard lord help us! You know Mickey D’s is right around the corner Pros: The View Cons: Reality more
