NOT WORTH A TRIP DOWNTOWN

Went the day after Virbila of the L.A. Times gave the place a 2 1/2 star rating. Big mistake. Arrived early, seated 30 minutes later without apology even though tables were open. First courses of foie gras creme brulee and langoustine carpaccio were excellent (but neither is really "cooking."). Wide noodle pasta with Italian sausage was okay. Main course of pork belly was dry and not tender and the skin was tough and chewy. The dessert doughnuts begged for some kind of sauce to offset their dryness. Poured my own wine and water throughout the evening.
I know Celestino Drago can cook. I've had a few dishes at his various restaurants that were outstanding. I keep trying the new ones, hoping that he will finally have a place that is all good all the time, but I keep being disappointed.
Pros: Not too loud, nice booths, attractive space
Cons: Tough parking/valet, poor service, mediocre food
