I came in to fix a small (half inch) hole on the seam of a sweater (it had unraveled). Last year, I had a similar situation (same brand of sweater, same type and size of hole), and I came to Ace; they fixed in on the spot for $3.50. This time, they said it would cost $9.50!!! When I asked how it could possibly be so expensive, they told me that even putting thread on a spool is work that justifies that price (!!!). Then they said they'd added on an ""express"" cost. My choice was either to pay this exorbitant price to get it done then, or to pay the only slightly cheaper ($8.00) price to pick it up a week later (a week! for a hole!!). Also, lately I've taken a few skirts in that needed to have the waist taken in. Out of three skirts, they said they couldn't do two -- they said they don't have the right kind of machines (who does, then?!). The third skirt ended up costing $40 to take in (I have no idea why -- it was a simple, unlined cotton skirt)! That's almost the price of the skirt. This is typical at Ace -- they just keep getting more and more expensive. I'm through paying for their high-rent location. Pros: decent work Cons: wildly overpriced more
