I recently bought a used 2002 Ford Explorer with 47,000 miles for my mother. It soon had a bad rattle in the Transmission. I feared the worst as the Ford Dealership said it would be over $3,500.00 to replace and I had no warranty. Thank goodness I brought it to Rico at Peninsula Transmission. He came highly recommended from a friend.
Rico was so friendly and reassuring. He really cared that the truck was going to be driven by my mother and needed to be 100% safe. He took me and the truck out for a long test drive including the freeway and listened carefully to the sound. He properly diagnosed the problem which was a failing torque converter. The estimate was $1,200. He decided go with a replacement part from a company that has corrected the low quality Ford original parts that caused early failure in the first place.
The great thing about Rico is that he will not replace anything that does not need replacing. He takes the time to get to the real problem without taking the short cut of just replacing everything at the expense of the customer
And here it the best part. The final bill came in lower than the estimate. When is the last time you had that experience at a repair shop?
Thanks Rico. My mother thanks you also.
