I have taken my two dogs (age 9 and 14) to Dr. Wallen for 8.5 years. She is the most honest, straightforward, caring medical practitioner I have ever encountered (and that includes 30 years of experience working with human physicians). I started with her at Carlson Animal Hospital, when she left for Santa Monica Dog and Cat Hospital, I followed because the other vet at Carlson was a pale comparison. Dr. Wallen has always provided me with an estimate for services before proceeding. Her office and veterinary staff have been respectful and professional; they recognize me and greet me by name. When one of my dogs had damaged her eye, Dr. Wallen gave me a referral to a specialist. When I was unhappy with the solution offered by that specialist and phoned Dr. Wallen in a panic, she calmed me down and "called in a favor" to get my dog an appointment with another eye specialist that afternoon. The prices at SM Dog and Cat have always seemed fair to me, particularly given the level of care
