please do not move here! 1/20/2009

We were going to move in this weekend, in fact i had my power turn on and everything and the day i was to sign the final paper work and get the keys, everything changed! we were not sure with complex to go with and we were not sure about summer wind because for the amount of money they want for a apartment there were some things that could be up dated, like old appliances and the exterior need work. we like the staff very much and felt comfortable there. We told them we would have to think about moving there and we were honest about why. they called us back a hour later and offered a free month. We did ask twice how the month could be applied. Could we have a full month, prorated it, or split it up. They said we could use it anyway we choose, we then decided to do all the paper work and deposit. i took 4 days to find out if we were approved. Well turns out the day before the move we found out the manager had still not oked everything. I was very stressed by this time. At the last moment we were told we could not get the free month unless we prorated it over the year and that we had to pay that all up front. My boyfriend tried to talk to her about the agreement we had with them, suddenly she did not remember agreeing to that at all. When she called back she became very rude and said they could do nothing about it and if we wanted to live there we had to pay it. when we told her we felt lied to, she then basically told him, never mind then we do not want you living here. I demanded copys of everything that was sign and we were told we would get our deposit back in the mail since it had already been put in. She told us only 200.00 dollars was refundable so we wound have to eat the other 220.00. If you break the agreement they can legally keep that money. Even though she broke the agreement it is basically her word against ours and only we know the truth! Always look into the management history, If they change managers every 6 months that a big red flag! Pros: feels welcoming at first! Cons: staff seems nice until they have your money, looks can be deceiving! more
