AMAZING and authentic Turkish food!!!

Thursday, July 17, 2008
We just moved to the UWS and have been exploring the restaurant scene. We decided to go to Turkuaz. You walk into a beautiful bar area. You then go in a bit further to see an incredible (air-conditioned) Bedouin-like tent. It is enormous!!! So cool. The fresh, WARM bread was awesome. So many wonderful appetizers, like a spinach pie, amazing veggie spreads, etc... The wine list is kickass and very, very reasonable (we had a great Pinot Grigio for $33 a bottle.) We were so full on apps that we only had two entrees and a salad and that was more than enough. I recommend the meatballs for a main course option!! DELICIOUS!! We didn't try any fish, but that's next time around. My Dad is Turkish and I've been to Turkey. This food matches up!!! Go immedietly! For two bottles of wine, four apps, two entrees, a salad and two desserts (there were four of us), the bill was less than $200. The service was impeccable. The waitress knew her stuff and everyone was so freakin friendly. The manager was super nice, too! His name is Bob. Such a find...enjoy! Pros: Fun atmosphere, gorgeous decor, open late, BELLY DANCING on weekends! Cons: None
