Wisdom Teeth Extraction-Good overall experience; would have liked a little more doctor-patient time so as not to feel rushed. Would definitely go to again; felt very confident in ability & knowledge. 7/7/2008

Known they had to go for a few years. Upon getting recommendations from my childhood dentist, family, and friends, I saw three local oral surgeons in 2006. Come 2007 when they started acting up again, and when I got another recommendation for Dr. Oseas from a new dentist (my childhood dentist also recommended him), I scheduled a consultation. I was PETRIFIED about the whole procedure and wanted someone I trusted as much as possible. I wasn't entirely comfortable with the first 2; the third I did like and almost went to. During my consultation with Dr. Oseas I watched a video about the procedure, pseudo-signed my life away (which was standard, as there is always risk with surgery), and met Dr. Oseas. He wasn't as personable right-off as I would have liked, but nice and compassionate. With all 4 teeth impacted, he recommended general anesthesia, which was one of the main reasons I was petrified (I didn't want to die yet). He also offers conscious sedation. He said he could do it with that, but know that I would be awake for the procedure. I asked what meds they used for general, he told me, and I went on my merry way. A few months and a letter from him later, I decided to call and schedule the extraction. The week before I called with questions and the staff was very helpful. The day of my heart rate was over 130. Suffice it to say, I was nervous. Once I started asking Dr. Oseas questions he seemed to warm up and reassured me. (He does have all the equipment and licenses, etc. to resuscitate people - and is next door to a hospital.) I did opt for the conscious sedation; I also got local which I think is standard with that. The procedure took less than an hour, I was awake and slightly aware, and only felt mild pain with two teeth - the sedation helped a lot with that so it wasn't bad for me. They asked me periodically how I was doing, etc. which was nice. Recovery room, post-op info, he called me that night. Follow-up was a bit too quick, but he was nice. Pros: His ability, knowledge, nice demeanor, compassion. The conscious IV sedation. Nice & accomodating, if busy, staff. Cons: Felt rushed at times, would have liked slightly longer, more in-depth explanations and time to discuss situation. more
