Denied Service

Monday, May 19, 2008
I love Los Angeles and have eaten at restaurants throughout our fair city since forever. I would loved to have eaten at Hunan but when I entered the restaurant last Saturday evening, I was denied service. The woman at the counter, after waiting on the customers in front of my friend and I, turned to us and shouted, "Leave, you get no service here." We were both confused and asked her to repeat what she had said. She again shouted at us, "Leave! You get no service here! Get Out!" She kept pointing to the front door. Stunned, we both left. Neither one of us had ever been to that restaurant before. We only chose it because it was in walking distance to the Directors Guild and we had just seen Iron Man there that evening. As I am an African American middle-aged woman and my friend a Mexican American woman, we could only think this had something to do with our race. I know this sounds unbelievable and unfair in this day and age, but this is what happened to us. We could see no other reason for this type of treatment. My husband stated that we should have made a scene but believe me, we were not looking for a fight, just a meal. My friend recommended that we post this review to let others know what occurred. Maybe you will have better luck.. Cons: I was denied service.
